The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Evening PE, welcome again, don't be a stranger.I've been busy as heck lately. Promotion at werk, along with the largest raise I've ever gotten.
I'm betting that GI trainin' hepped a bit.

It's Tuesday, it doesn't warrant large red letters.
It's rainy here for the third day in a row. My sister's going to have a distorted view of Colorado.

On the bright side, it's not even supposed to hit 70 today...
Hey, at least this means that when it DOES stop with the dripping, it'll be cool enough for hiking. I hope it happens soon.

Dude, where've you been?
I am around. Just been bored or busy.
*ug*, the caffeine is not kicking in today...
Glad yall got to see "Howl's". Pretty good eh? I need to read to book sometime to compare.
To: TalonDJ
Heh... I think it's the best movie I've seen all year, although it took me forever to get used to the English.
Am rereading the book now, Diana Wynn Jones is a must-read (most of her stuff anyway). Had forgotten how good it is... many of the little details in the movie were exactly right, though there were some really neat innovations (loved how Sophie looked older or younger based on her mood) and the whole war thing.
And busy is an excuse... a lousy one, but an excuse... bored means you should start weird vanities.

*Yawn* Man.. thought I got enough sleep last night. I guess that part of the dream where I was sleeping in a ditch should have warned me that I was not getting decent sleep.
Weird vanities eh? I almost never look at those things...
Yeah liked that part with the age shifting. It was like a crutch. Her self esteem issues made her rather accepting of the curse and she used it as a crutch mentally. It was like when she was excited she 'forgot' to embrace the curse and her inner exuberance over rode it. I saw it as paralleling her gaining acceptance of who she was. Not so much the curse fading away as her out growing her willingness to view herself that way.

mmm shiny robots... is it alright if in my head the robots that will do my job are armed with lasers? and spinny saw arms...
To: TalonDJ; JenB
Last night I dreamed I got attacked by some weird cobra / rattlesnake snake. Hugh. I woke up just as it finally bit me...spent MOST of the dream standing still trying not to breathe and hoping it would go away.
Maybe we'd better NOT go hiking today...
