The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It's been my experience that leather seats are quite a bit better in hot weather than, say... vinyl. Leather cools to the touch pretty fast.I think sheepskin seatcovers are the best of all. Never burning in the summer, nice and cozy in the winter. The first thing I do when I get a new car is get sheepskin seatcovers. My butt's worth it.

Dude, where've you been?
Rosie, my little sister, and I just tripped down to Denver to see "Howl's Moving Castle" so I don't have to resent you for seeing that any more. But I do have to reread the book because I don't remember a lot of it.

300 winmag; mrsnad's cousin, a Marine Cobra pilot, is leavin' fer his 2nd tour in Iraq on the 6th... yuh got anything you can send in time?...AUGUST 6th? I've got two Gerber LMFs being engraved right now. They should be ready Wednesday. I can pop one in the mail then, if I have an address.
The Camillus BK2 is also a favorite with helo pilots, but the Gerber is a bit slicker.

I'd concur with that. My Dad's car has sheepskin covers in it, and I'll admit they're pretty nice in hot weather.
My mustang has [black] leather seats, and they do get pretty toasty if I leave the top down in the sun. BUT: the instant you sit on them, they cool right down. Its not like vinyl that sears onto your skin and sticks there.

Its not like vinyl that sears onto your skin and sticks there.Steering wheels are a problem for me when they get white hot. So I got one of those aluminized plastic-bubble sunshades for the windshield. It keeps the interior cooler, and prevents color fade from all that sunlight.
Sometimes those sunshades work too well. That heat has already come through the glass, but has not been transmitted into the car's interior. The heat has to go somewhere, so it's trapped between the inside of the glass, and the sunshade. I came back once, and found the rearview mirror on the floor. The trapped heat got the inside of the glass so hot, it loosened the adhesive that held the mirror on.
