The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I have no idea what her percentage of the sales would be. But even if she gets just $1.00 per book, that would've been over $10 million in one weekend.
Nice work if you can get it.

Spoilers.... He's not working for Voldemort, IMO. Still not the world's nicest guy but I'm convinced he's not truly evil. I think he's very much a shades-of-gray character and will probably die in the next book in such a way that Harry feels just a little bad about hating him so much..

And when she started writing "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", she was a divorced single mother trying to get off welfare. Wow. Now that's an all-American rags-to-riches story. Except she's British.

My interventions worked! The pool went from a murky pea-green color to cloudy white yesterday to sparkling clear today! I did maintain a high level of shock and also used algaecide. I also cleaned the filter several times a day.

more spoilers...So you think he's still really working with the Order? Someone speculated on one of the other threads that DD's "please Snape" was a plea to go ahead with what they both knew needed to be done. And in other news...I've seen a couple of people say that Hermione is Harry's sister...that's just bogus...right?...end spoilers...

You'll probably find that's a typical need in the summer time.

I'm thrilled. It was disappointing, you know? It got ahead of me suddenly!
Now I know to be extra diligent from here on out.

Hmmmm.... Wha? Hermione Harry's sister? That's just stupid. That one comes up every now and then in newbie fans and everyone else sits on them.
Yeah, Snape's working for the Order. Dumbledore clearly wouldn't plead for his own life. Dunno what brilliant plan requires him to have Snape murder him, but... Dumbledore sure believes in his own brainpower.

So...how long do we have to wait for book seven?
And, is that "it?" Jr. said his girlfriend (current gf status: not certain) said she read there would be more books. But my understanding from the outset was that she had seven books planned.

Hot here today. It's only nine thirty (not even) and already too warm outside.

Supposed to be over a hundred.
I'll just keep repeating "But it's a dry heat!" in hopes it makes me feel better...

At least two years, and that's it. No more. So she says. But some of us will be starting a mob to demand prequels.

*sigh*
No interesting jobs on the main sites today.
Did you see that I applied at B&N and REI and Starbucks?
Probably should look into EMS, too.

I get green water if the fish tank has any direct sun... I'd imagine pools are tough to keep clear.
I can give ya some snails....
