The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

And it's so seldom one gets a private time to practice!
The neighbors can't hear you?

Ugh...I seem to recall having that happen to me.
Now I have a heavy duty corkscrew with lever thingies. Hard to describe, but it looks like an instrument of torture and works vey well.

I mean I pulled the cork out with a vice grip...the screw broke off deep inside it! I only had the cork out about a half inch, but it was good enough for me to get the vice grip on it!

I'm playing pretty quietly. If they can hear me...it's only very very vaguely. And with AC running...doubtful!
I've been playing a lot these past few days.

Two levers? One on each side? That kinda folds down?
That's what I'm getting next. I've sworn mightily over this one more than once!

Yep, two levers. You screw it into the cork and then push down on the levers and it pulls the cork for you. And it's pretty hefty.
It really works well. I can't recall where I got it...at the natural foods store, I think. The one at home sells nice kitchen implements in addition to foods...it's where I'd go for knives and such.

I haven't picked up my whistle since we've been home from ShootMoot.

My Shootmoot knife is the best knife I've ever owned...oh my! Steve used to let me use his in the kitchen too, but after we processed the chickens, he was so impressed he took his back and now wears it.
I've never had such a nice knife. I love everything about it...I love the feel of it in my hand and the way I can depend on it! I keep it in my butcher knife wooden block on my counter.

That was such a nice night! You don't know how much I appreciated that. It was the only time since I'd left home that I'd gotten to play with other people, and it really meant a lot.
Thank you so much - and I truly mean it!

I did terrible.
I'd never played with anyone and I was out of practice.

I wish we'd had more time...
It seemed so short in hind sight.

You did just fine! It was enjoyable, and that's the most important thing.

I've really gotta get to bed. I assume Jen and her sister will be here when I wake up. Guess I'd better be quiet!
I really should grind coffee now, but I'm too sleepy. I can always do tea. Nice quiet caffeine...

I'm baaaack!
Got there and back again safely. Sister travelled well. It was great to see the family. The new Harry Potter book was cool and we were right in our guesses about the death and the identity of the "Half-Blood Prince". Wish it could have been a longer visit...
What happened here?

OT is visiting Hair and ecurbh. She got up on Cyn, and walked around their back forty for a little bit. They went to see MT. St. Helens and today they went to the Pacific.
Ramius was in the hospital with some sort of nasty ailment. He's home resting now, though he has posted since he got there, so we know he's alive! ;o)

I will have been here two years on the 22nd of this month and and this is my 7,000th reply. I guess that makes it a spam post.
Just wondering how that compares with others. I'm probably a piker huh?

I'll check for response in the morning, I think most normal people are in bed by now.
