The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hi all! We're back!

After all this talk of mine about the Pacific never being quiet, today it was.... not a lot of surf. Dang! I've never seen it like this!

Ah well, we waded a bit in the water anyhow.

Was a beautiful day for a drive :~D

This is Willipa Bay...

As usual after an adventure, we're beat! Gonna hit the couch in short order and put my feet up :~D

How lovely. Looks like it was a great day for it too!

Maybe the Pacific was in an Atlantic kinda mood. :-D

"Saw the Atlantic and the Pacific,
But the Pacific wasn't terrific,
And the Atlantic isn't what it's cracked up to be."

But it looked great to me!

Looks like Dubya picked his Justice finally.

Had a major slow-down here, but it's probably because I'm on dial-up. :P

The knife emails are continuing to pour in at an amazing rate...
My name is [redacted], and I am currently the Commander of [unit redacted] and some of my soldiers have been telling me about the Knives they have been recieving through your organization, and have seen the one sent to CSM Ermatinger. I am very impressed with them and was wondering if I could get one sent to me. Please let me know if this is possible and if there is any further information you need from me.
I am writing to tell you I had seen your Gerber knife that a friend of mine got from you. I really liked the knife. He was telling me that you sent it to him for free. I am in [unit redacted], in Boise Idaho. I would like to know if I would fall in to the same catagory as he did to recieve one of your knives. Please let me know.
I am an Army Aviator and would like to try one of your knives. Thank you for what you do for our troops.
I am going to Afghanistan in the early fall, and I would like to bring one of your knives with me. I would like to know if you could send me one of your lovely CQB3’s or a CQB1-SG. I think that one of these would be an excellent companion. Thank you for what you are doing.
Hello, I was introduced to your website by another soldier who expressed that you were giving knives away. They are very beautiful and sounds like a godsend to soldiers who are out there fighting. I am and Apache pilot getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan in a couple of months. Would it be possible to get one of these knives? If not, no problem, but I was interested in the Camillus/Becker BK2 "Campanion". Any response from you would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.
I am on active duty with [names redacted] they referred me to your company. Would you please send me your Gerber LMF II. Thanks for all you are doing for our troops!

Back. After Ruthy's bedtime.

It was fun. We played a dice game called Bunko...I'd never heard of it before, but it was fun, despite my lousy luck. Not as complicated as Yahtzee, which I also like.

I think Jen and her sis should be here before toooo long. Dunno if it'll be after I'm long asleep or no.

*sigh*

It hit a hundred here today.

Tomorrow it's supposed to be over a hundred.

That ocean looks awfully nice and cool, doesn't it?

Hey! Bunko...never played it but I've heard of it.

Steve made a large pot of giblet gravy this evening. The larger chicken is going to be roasted in the oven tomorrow. Gonna eat it with taters.

I'm working on a coupla new tunes - from thesession.org: "Mac's Fancy" and "Paddy be Easy". I want to learn "The Sprightly Widow" next, 'cause it goes with "Mac's Fancy".

Should go to bed pretty quick, but I'm so close to having 'em down!
