I am already sick of this Supreme Court discussion. Kennedy and Feingold have already fired warning shots. Pundits are telling us it will probably be Gonzalez (which I do not think it will be) and lots of people are acting like he MUST appoint a woman. Blech!
The groups like MoveON are mobilizing, and some of the conservative groups are making threats.
The President will appoint the type of justice that he has always said he would, just like the people he has already appointed to the appellate courts. This is another reminder of why I would do terrible in politics, because I would have already lost my patience and probably appointed Jesse Helms or something.

One thing is we keep hearing the libs like Teddy...making their veiled threats....AAACK! I don't relish this contamination of our beloved 4th of July!
It does annoy me, though. I think I will go take a nap.
Oliver is terriried of fireworks and God's fireworks..the thunderboomers we have had alot of lately. Prolly due to my poor hearing, I am often not aware of either UNLESS Oliver is under my chair - shivering, trying to be a lap dog, or otherwise trying to crawl under my skin. this holiday is NOT pooch friendly, is it?

Sadie seems to be better..the meds are doing the trick. The vet needs to find out why she is having all these ear infections.

Heard on ABC News on the hour that OConner had resigned, but what made this breathless was the newscaster said that there could be a real brawl for a Supreme Court nomination as the "Republicans" decided to change the rules by electing a nuclear option.
I damn near drove off the road on that comment. It not only is a bold faced lie, but absolutely ignores 200 years worth of nomination process.
Glad she is responding to meds. I have a few cats that are prone to various ear problems, including ear mites. I use hydrogen peroxide in the ears almost daily as a "preventive".. those that are prone to the ear infections seem to have the mite problmes also. Oliver thus far has not had ear problmes. I wonder if certain breeds are more prone to this problem. Oliver is not a pure bred.

Laura had a guest...commenting on a Gonzales appt...which some of us would not welcome...This woman said Gonzales would not be good choice because he'd have to recuse himself in certain cases due to his service as AG...that would mean a possible 4-4 tie on some likely key decisions. NOT to be desired...

Its about the crashed chopper and the missing recon team.
Folks this recon team was sniffing out a major Al Qaeda node(AQ leadership) when this happened.
The missing team looks to have been overrun by 100+ Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters.
Please say a prayers these warriors are evading the bad guys as I type.
The composition of the forces lost tells us plenty about the mission. They were supporting Operation Red Wing, which is the hunt for al Qaeda and Taliban leadership on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri and Mullah Omar are specific targets of this operation.
While this is purely speculation, the ferocity of the attack on the ground team, the composition of the US relief force, and the sophistication of the attack on the Night Stalker may indicate the ground team sniffed out an important node in the al Qaeda/Taliban chain of command. CENTCOM states units are moving to blocking positions to prevent the escape of the attacking unit.
The hunt continues.
Prayers for our guys on the ground there. And prayers to give their family strength as we all know how frightening this must be for them.
In the case on the way home we heard that Brian Williams last night was talking about the new President of Iran. He said that what was the big deal if he had been one of the hostage takers (i.e., terrorists) who kidnapped American citizens in the '70's. That was sort of like being in the peace corps.
