Many Freepers grew up in what they considered to be the golden age of Rock concerts. Of course, it may have had more to do with the fact that we were young and fanatical about the music in our youth. These days, ol Pissant prefers the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Military Band music and Jazz, but I have some very fond memories of the craziness of my Rock concert yesteryears. Im quite sure many of you have some concert stories that rival and surpass mine. So this thread is the place to share!
Following are 2 concert experiences that left a permanent scar on me! ;o)
Leaving.............
Just rib'en ya...
It was all rock. No Burt Bacharach, no strings. It was fantastic. He toured with his piano player, the fabulous Steve Nieve, a few years back, just the two of them doing an acoustic set. Both of my brothers saw it and said it was amazing.
Saw the Allmans in 1979. They were good...and they behaved.
.....on jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again....
I saw the B-52's in KC with Toad the Wet Sprocket (anyone remember them?) They are great in concert.
Now Dasher, doesn't Chris Isaak live in your neck of the woods? I used to know a chic who went out with him. He is absolutely dreamy!
Yes... lives in SF...
I've been looking for him everywhere. Apparently we don't share the same watering holes.
I saw The Clash again in 1983 in Wichita Falls, TX of all places. I believe that was the Combat Rock tour. Little Charlie Sexton (as he was known at the time) opened for them; you wouldn't believe all the cowboy hats and boots in the audience. It was the strangest concert I ever attended. Mick Jones looked straight above the cowboy hats and appeared less than pleased that he was in that venue. It sorta reminded me of Spinal Tap, when they play the Air Force Ball!!
I would have killed to see the Pogues! ( :
I knows you is! :)
I wish Ann Coulter would release some pictures of herself at some shows!
Sounds very good. I really liked his first few records!
No, my copy of the album was at an ex-girlgriend's house and I had a jones, then this girl comes into work with this self made compilation tape titled "Song I'm Sure You'll Hate" and the first song was "Repoman" I asked to borrow it and that was our first conversation.
Kinda creepy site, but it would work great for a stalker!
I remember Toad The Wet Sprocket. I really liked them.
The Clash and Charlie Sexton was an odd combination.
VERY creepy site - found him - by the way....
Found me too....ICK!
Elvis Costello's early stuff is amazing, but he started getting weird in the mid-80's. Elvis Costello is probably one of the most talented musicians alive and he knows it, he purposely does all of the fancy stuff because he likes it and he doesn't care if the audience does or not.
Most high - Meadowlands - Def Leppard/Billy Squier 1982?
Most semi-sober, fun - Meadowlands - Bruce Springsteen
Most hot, sweaty - Live Aid - Philadelphia - 1985
Most intoxicating - Jimmy Buffett 1993?
I Like West LA Fadeaway and Black Muddy River. Live Terrapin is sumthin, huh?
Annie reminds me of some of the dead head chicks I've seen over the years.
