Many Freepers grew up in what they considered to be the golden age of Rock concerts. Of course, it may have had more to do with the fact that we were young and fanatical about the music in our youth. These days, ol Pissant prefers the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Military Band music and Jazz, but I have some very fond memories of the craziness of my Rock concert yesteryears. Im quite sure many of you have some concert stories that rival and surpass mine. So this thread is the place to share!
Following are 2 concert experiences that left a permanent scar on me! ;o)
One story from both eras, please! ;o)
Fresh sweat is great.
Haven't taken a shower in three days and smelling like a pair of dirty socks, no. ;-)
I'll keep my eye peeled. I like celtic music! (and the riverdance girls)
I think I was too young for these concerts :)
but I did get to go to a Metallica concert in 1991, and that kicked @$$, but I was only ten and only got to watch everyone else get smashed.

I remember this concert the most because I went with my soon to be wife.... and her boyfriend.
Okay...I'll give you that, who cared about politics in their 20's. (me)
Anyway, I have seen every Tull concert I've been able to attend. Memories mix with memories....but evey one of their shows were the best! I got backstage passes in 1999. It was a highlight of my life!
I can dig the Rush experiences. I saw U2 twice & they stunk! But they may have had "off" nights.
Dead, spring tour Atlanta, can't beat 'em.
It's the rites of Eleusis and R&R all rolled into one
swirling technicolor vibe.
And the Sounds, and the people, and the WALLS, WAY YEA YEAA!
Your WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLL, it's TURRRRRRRNING!!!
I saw U2 around that time as well. And the show was great. As you said, Bono does know how to entertain a crowd.
I would have loved to have seen Rush, but the opportunity never presented itself.

I'd like to see somebody try and call this "Deadhead" a liberal.
Cal Jam II (missed the 1st one).
Couldn't see the stage, much less the performers, but the crowd was a LOT of fun!
Here's their site, http://youngdubliners.com/
Nice guys, good tunes, trying hard every night on stage to have massive coronaries. And they can frequently be found with other Celtic rock bands like Seven Seas.
Riverdance girls are nice, if only they'd taken off their heels and beaten Michael Flately to death, now that would have been a good show.
Saw Anthrax in about 1987 that was pretty good. :D
Winger. '89.
Winger. '89.
Steve Miller Band and Heart at the Oakland Colisseum was fun, although it might have caused permanent hearing damage.
Gordon Lightfoot was great in his heyday. I've seen about seven of his concerts. Not really rock, though.
Twisted Sister at the Broome County arena in Binghamton, NY 1985. Memorable because of the hell of performance and the guy next to me got his ass kicked for throwing a whiskey bottle at Dee Snyder. Closest I've ever been to the stage.
We coots were cool! We wore our thongs and sang our songs!
Will I be in your good graces again if I tell you that I saw Dizzy Gillespie perform once? ;-)
