Lysie, a unaminous decision is meaaningless if it is the WRONG decision. A lie is a lie even if EVERYONE believes it. The truth is the truth even if NO ONE beleives it.

Hi, I'm back.

It got so dark here I though we were going to have thunderstorms, but alas, still no rain!

" THE ADVISORY IS BEING ISSUED BECAUSE OF PERSISTENT ELEVATED LEVELS OF FINE PARTICLES IN THE AIR. THESE FINE PARTICLES COME PRIMARILY FROM COMBUSTION SOURCES... SUCH AS UTILITIES... FACTORIES AND OTHER INDUSTRIAL SOURCES AND VEHICLE EXHAUST AND OUTDOOR BURNING. CURRENT WEATHER CONDITIONS LEADING TO THIS ADVISORY ARE A WIDESPREAD... STAGNANT MASS OF DIRTY AIR AND HAZE STRETCHING FROM SOUTHERN MISSOURI TO MICHIGANS UPPER PENINSULA THAT HAS PLAGUED WISCONSIN AND THE MIDWEST SINCE LAST WEEK."

This is a first for us.

It wasn't my fault!

I swear...

My hubby says to get a property inspection and a radon test; they know better how to spot mold, water damage, infestations, roof condition, and lead-based paint than we "amateurs" do. If you like the house and want to buy it, consider making your offer on the home contingent on approval of the property inspection report and radon test results; if that shows something, then you are free to pull the offer unless THEY pay to fix the problem. In our area, the inspections cost around $250-$400, but they might be more in your area. They are well worth it.

I look for intangibles in addition to the above: What are the neighbors like? Do the lawns and yards look compatible with your style and interest in upkeep? It can be very frustrating to be a garden person who lives next door to someone who uses their flower beds to park their cars. If it is an older neighborhood and you have little kids, will they be discouraged from playing in the yard and having their toys around, or just making noise? We've been very, very lucky in our neighbors where we've lived, and I can't tell you how much it can make a difference to living happily in your home.

Sorry this got so long!

Good suggestions! My sister bought in a new subdivision, and the later arrivals are heavily into working on cars and motorcycles late at night, letting dogs run loose, ignoring yard upkeep, etc. It pays to know what your neighbors will be like!

I am off to bed. I have had a long day and need to get some sleep, as tomorrow I am babysitting.

Good night!

You have been given good advice on the questions to ask and what to look for.

Do keep us posted.

It's raining here but if you've got a sky ....it's planets in conjuction.
-------
".....Monday evening, June 27th, is best of all. With Saturn nearby, Venus and Mercury converge. At closest approach, the two planets will be less than one-tenth of a degree apart. Such pairings of bright planets are literally spellbinding.

Hi kay. I'm trying to unwind after a busy day. We had a wind storm blow thru here about an hour ago. No rain. Just wind. REAL wind. Very scary.

I got to drive home from work in a severe thunderstorm ... fun! fun!

The really frustrating part was that I would have gotten away from the office sooner except that my accounting program did something weird and scary ... told me that all my data was corrupted. It took a while to jump through all the right hoops to get things straightened out and by then the storm was upon us.

I was not a happy camper as I was driving through wind-driven rain so heavy I could barely see 10 feet in front of me ... especially as I crossed a narrow, 4-lane (but not divided) bridge across the river. Thankfully, the worst of it lasted only a few minutes but I sure wish it had been somewhere besides that bridge.

While I was driving, the radio station comforted me with reports of the potential for 60 mph winds and penny-sized hail, though I saw neither ... the wind was pretty strong but not that bad.

The wind is picking up here, again. I think I'm going to pack up my tent and go to bed.

Newt is being interviewed by whoever is sitting in for Michael Reagan. Interesting interview.

Heavy winds when you are already experiencing drought is not a good thing ... it only makes the situation more serious.

G'night, sweetie. Sleep well!

To all members of The Dawn Patrol:

With sincere apologies to those of you who try to begin FReeping before the caffeine kicks in, I am posting Tuesday's thread late on Monday night. I know that's confusing but it's the best I can do ... I hope that no one gets hopelessly lost trying to find the new thread.

Thread for Tuesday, June 28

Maybe this will help ...
