A Joyous Good Monday to all!
We will not falter, we will not tire, we will not fail.
He told us that he'll get a DVD of the whole thing, yes. Wow! He told us that later they did this high walk thing on 4x4s about 25 feet up. He said he had no trouble with that, it was much easier than crossing some of the bridges in the jungle. He's did some light rapelling last year as well. That is to come in his training. JT indicated that a corner had been turned in their training and they're doing more stuff with less of the basics, but there is still that drop and give me 20 type of junk.
I bet Ev laughs now. It isn't funny when you're going through it, but I can imagine what those pictures are going to be like.
We're trying to make plans now to get to graduation. It will be expensive so we'll have to be very careful. But it's our desire.
Yeah, like he was really cold that day. Then he was really hot. And now, he's very hot.
There is a tiny little town near the base; basically comprised of hotels & restaurants.;^)
Everyone we met on the base was so very, very nice to us; the young soldiers were unerringly polite and helpful.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
There was a partial black-out one of the nights we were visiting; the base went into lockdown and we had to hang out in the barracks with Ev & his bunkmate & a few other guys. In total darkness. The rest of the guys were hunkered down in the hallway with the DS's, awaiting the all-clear.Ev & his buddies got to wait it out in their "bay", because we were there. They seemed to welcome the distraction. We were the only parents in the barracks at the time. They all wanted to hang with us; it had been so long since they had seen civilians.
We had a blast.
I am facinated with this discussion. Wish I could stay and participate.
One meeting and a nicey nice lunch down, one meeting to go.

But at the same time, we have enough Jewish friends to understand that perhaps they ARE upset at not seeing their religion displayed in courthouses.

This confuses me as I always thought the Ten Commandants were handed down to Moses and therefore were basic to the Jewish faith. Part of our Judeo-Christian religion.
Imagine the inscriptions could be expanded to include Buddist, Hindu and Islam tenets as well as other lesser known religions.
I certainly object to my tax dollars ever getting to the ACLU.
A "nicey-nice" lunch??
What, finger sandwiches and lemon tarts?:)
That's a good point about Moses and the Jewish religion. I guess I understand, to a small extent, how people of other faiths feel about seeing our 10 Commandments.
But, as I mentioned, seeing how this country was established and why, I would think that some lattitude would be given. It seems today, everyone wants to be a victim and find something to be offended about. We've become a society of made up victims, imo.
And do you know, it wasn't until a few years ago that I realized our tax dollars funded the ACLU and I share your complete outrage.
I see that Fox has decided that we need to be fascinated by sharks again. Nope. Not interested. It would have been nice if they had stayed with the Pentagon briefing with General Casey and Secretary Rumsfeld. The shark victim's autopsy is getting FULL coverage right now. This is NOT national news!
It is so hot here we aren't even going in the pool today. Now that's hot!
I am reminded of the time, pre 9/11, when the press had the nation focused on sharks and Chandra Levy. This is another of those times.
Regarding that shark attack the other day where the 14 year old girl sadly died, the man who tried to save her punched the shark in the nose.
I am told this disables the shark but will have to take the experts word on that as I can't imagine not having a heart attack first if a shark got that close to me.
The story, for those interested in reading about what this heroic man tried to do, is here:

Meeting #2 concluded. I'm closing down shop, storing the laptop away and heading to the Mall.
Back later tonite when I get home.
Buy me something.:-)
When we are vaationing in Florida, I wade along the beach at ankle depth. That's it.
I go to the hotel pool if I want to swim.
I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I talked hubby into getting a/c a couple of years ago.........
I had to run to the music store earlier and the 10 seconds it took me to walk from my car to the store was about all the time I want to spend outdoors today.............
Remember, last year I went without AC all summer! I am SO grateful we went ahead and had the new unit put in this spring!! Yikes!
Thank you for opening the morning thread, Molly.
It helps that we have only one floor to cool.
I wouldn't set foot in the attic today if you payed me.
Okay, okay........sheesh!!!!!
We nearly bought a thermometer for outdoors a few years ago and decided that some days, we are really better off not knowing the temperature :-)
I had a bunch of errands and the car was hot as could be getting in and out of it.
Glad ya'll have a/c because it's brutal without it.
So I'm going to go look at it...and ask some questions.
I need you all to prep me.......what sort of question do I need to ask....besides ...how old is the roof and windows and heater.
What do I look for in a 75 year old house?
