The World Wide Web actually sits on top of the Internet, kind of like I'd like Catherine Zeta - well, let's skip the analogies for the moment.
Anyway, the World Wide Web uses a set of protocols to control the communications between your browser and the Web server, kind of like the way my wife manages the communications between me and Cath - sorry.
The primary communication protocol is called HTTP which stands for HypterText Transfer Protocol. I don't know what that means but it is very important in making sure the Web Server knows what to send to the Browser. Maybe if my wife and I used HTTP - sorry again.
The HTTP has both a header and a payload. Before my old friends invent some kind of sexual connotation the header is kind of like the stuff on the outside of the envelope and the payload is kind of like the stuff on the inside. Hey, I got one in without mention of my wife or Catherine Zeta - oops.
The part of the header that represents the return address on the envelope can tell the Web Server where the HTTP request was sent from. When you put an anchor in your FR post, that generates an HTTP request to the photo server. If the photo server checks that return address it can do what it wishes with the request, trash it, respond to it, or even redirect it to something foul.
I hope this helps. Now back to what I was doing. If you think it has anything to do with Catherine Zeta-Jones you are sadly mistaken (and so am I).
