German soldiers will be allowed to sport mullets and ponytails after a court ruled army hair regulations were unconstitutional.
The ruling came after an 18-year-old soldier was locked up in a cell and fined £100 when he refused to chop off his 10-inch ponytail.
The teenaged recruit only agreed to let army barbers cut his hair when faced with three weeks in solitary confinement, but made a formal complaint at the same time.
The military court in Munich ruled in favour of the soldier and argued the varying rules for male and female recruits were "unconstitutional" and "incomprehensible".
It said forcing male soldiers to cut their long hair went against their rights as individuals.

Here we go, the personal attack. personal attack? What are you talking about - I didn't say a word about your mullet.
A former(current) liberal, I presume.
Nope .... just someone sick of you cavemen dissing women all the time.
Oh - and varying rules doesn't mean communal. //// It certainly does. I'll bet there is more privacy in the womens quarters. That falls under 'varying' rules.
If all you want is more privacy in your quarters, just ask. It doesn't mean they have to be communal. Separate but equal.. isn't that the term!?

Pissant is wrong on this.
GERMAN SOLDIERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO KEEP THEIR PONYTAILS OR MULLETS!!!!
The court held that women and men shall be treated equally, and that it´s not constitutional that women may keep 10 inches long ponytails! Therefore, I conclude that the Minister will order women to cut off their long hair.
Don´t expect German soldiers to become long-haired hippies!

Nazis atrocities, Commies atrocities, what's to choose? War is a dirty business. Even the Western Allies were not entirely clean. It doesn't bother me much - if your hands are "clean," you're probably not fighting it hard enough. Its one of the things that bothers me about how we conduct the war in the Iraq - war crimes trials are for the losers. Why do we keep acting like losers?
The Wehrmacht fought well, often against overwhelming odds, despite being hamstrung by stupidity (like the lack of winter gear at the start of the Russian campaign, or the delay to the same caused by mopping up the Italian fiasco in the Balkans, or switching objectives in the middle of it...). That is MY measure of a good army. If they had managed to win, they would have been a great army.

I think all new recruits should have to have very short hair. Once they reach a certain rank, the rules could be relaxed a little.

I believe they should allow long hair strictly for training purposes. It is rumored that Euro armies are experts at "girl fight tactics" like flail slapping, shin kicking and hair pulling.
This can only aid in the ease of training.
