If you drink, it gets clear.

Please don't drink.

A friend of mine slipped all his buddies a bladder infection drug that turns your pee a bright electric blue, on a camping trip.

He didn't say anything... he just wanted to see if they would bring it up. ;~D

Don't I wish.

I have been doing somewhat better. It ain't easy.

I realize this is not part of the AA 12 step program, but I have been trying to cut back. Substitute other beverages for the booze. A doc at Johns Hopkins and I discussed this, so it isn't a complete stab in the dark.

Still, I would be better off with none. It's done me no favors. It's just another addiction.

I'll keep you in my prayers. KEEP COMING BACK to AA. Are you doing 90 meetings in 90 days? Have you ever done that?

That's the suggestion, but please be aware: Suggestions are all "Damned Well Better"'s.

You know something, Harry, in my experience, AA is a little standoffish and formal.

NA (Narcotics Anonymous) is much more 'real people' to me. Hard core junkies have a tendency to keep it real.

Alcohol is merely the OLDEST DRUG, so.... if AA turns you off, try NA.

In NA, we hug a lot. I like that.

Tis moi.

I've been following the advice I received here. It's amazing how much the people here know.

The meetings bore me.

The one good thing about them is that if I can stay sober until 8:00 PM, then I will be okay. It's a daily goal.

Yes, I have done 90 in 90. 180 in 180. Then something went wrong. Something trivial.

It doesn't take much. It reminds me of the line from that movie about the drug addict: "a broken shoelace".

Oh, great, The Other Harry posts this ridiculous "what makes my pee orange yellow" thread and he's up to 70 posts, at least!

I post a sincere vanity ("Help, how do I stop these flaming urinations?") and it gets pulled in like two minutes after a pair of abusive responses...

What are the mods thinking?

(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,

 it was probably sarcasm)

The meetings bore me.

I can promise you you will never be bored at an NA meeting.

The tales you hear are better than any movie.

OTOH, even at NA I was bored at first. Keep doing them anyways. You don't hear anything that is good for your recovery at them?

if I can stay sober until 8:00 PM, then I will be okay. It's a daily goal.

That's the way this program works.

Yes, I have done 90 in 90. 180 in 180. Then something went wrong. Something trivial. It doesn't take much. It reminds me of the line from that movie about the drug addict: "a broken shoelace".

Dude, you are making a conscious DECISION to use if that's what's putting you back out there. I've seen people lose sons and daughters, marriages, houses ... and not use.

You just have to make the decision not to pick up NO MATTER WHAT.

I hope you get your problem taken care of, and yes there are some very smart FReepers. But none of them, no matter how smart, know what your physical history or your blood work reveal. Any suggestion that is made on these threads may or may not apply to your particular case.

Be careful, Harry. Your health is not something to take for granted. Please go see someone who can analyze your specific issues.

Power Bars will get you pretty close to the hue of the orange vests that highway workers wear.

Hey Harry...Laz has some good advice. I felt the same way about AA and found that NA helped a lot more...and yes, lots of alcoholics go to NA...it's not just for drug addicts.
