Who Would You Choose to Have a Beer With? (past or present)
Beer Addled Brain | 6/12/05 | Pissant

Some of our most cherished memories in life revolve around sharing a drink with loved ones and friends. A fine bottle of Cabernet with your spouse on your anniversary. A 12 year old scotch with your father. Shots of tequila with the girl you've been after for months. Etc, Etc.

There are certainly people in our history and living today, that I would give my left nu.., er little toe, to share a beer and a long-winded conversation with. The following is off the top of my head, and hundreds more could be included:

LIVING:

3. Bob Dylan - my all time favorite enigmatic musician

2. Donald Rumsfeld - A real man amongst girly men

1. Mark Steyn - perhaps the most insightful, wittiest man on the planet

DEAD

3. Ernest Hemmingway - one of the few writers of fiction I love.

2. Ronald Reagan - The hero of our times

1. Ben Franklin - My alltime favorite historical figure.

Thank you... I figure if I had a choice, I'd pick the people that made the most and gave the most for our nation. Those listed are true inspirations for me.

Mike

Sun Tsu. Totally forgot about him.

Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein go on the list, but with Einstein, I also want Steven Hawking there.

Think of the trouble that would cause. They would be calling in the National Guard to break up the party.

Well, dang! That's mighty nice! Back at both o'ya as well.

Only problem is that I tend to get thrown out of most drinking establishments. Some places get all uppity whenever a fight breaks out. Whatever.

Of course theres that day in the future with you, Travis, Eaker and Texasproud..........Philosophers ??? Maybe . Alexander the great, possibly. Cleoprata, John Browning, Chuck Yeager........

I'd need to have a keg party to satisfy my choices of who I'd like to have a beer with or just to sit and talk with and ask questions.

Stay safe !

Hank Williams Sr., as long as he kept his tear out of my beer.
Betty Jack Davis and her adopted sister skeeter.
General Curtis Lemay.
I could go on and on, but if I'm buying the beer it would be the elder HW, assuming he brought along his guitar. His music would be even better without the drifting cowboys and buying his beer would be cheaper than bribing the jukebox for his songs.

Well, deceased, Jesus of course.  James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, Idi Amin would probably be interesting.

Living, Dennis Prager, Ann Coulter, Karl Rove, my FRiends JRBC and Sam's Army.  And definitely my deceased FRiend, Henry Lee II.

Maybe you should look at your attachment to having angst.

Recreate the relationship ~ everyday our relationships are over, the past had passed, tomorrow never comes, all we have is today.

Treat him like you're meeting him for the first; forget the history, it's just that: history.

This is it, this is all there is.

"Idi Amin would probably be interesting."

Just make sure you are the one that orders the appetizers, not him.

I find that when I drink gin, my wife gets very argumentative.

It's not so much the brawl that's fun, but the challenge of sneaking back into said bar afterwards to light off a military style smoke bomb as retaliation.
