I know, this isn't exactly politically or socially oriented, but I've exhausted the web for help, and you guys are my last resort.
I'm trying to figure out why I can't print ANYTHING from AOL... I can open a page in another browswer or save a picture elsewhere and print with no problems whatsoever, but when trying to use the "Print" button from within AOL, I get nothing.
I've searched all over AOL's website, googled every combination of "AOL" + "Print" you can imagine, and I get nothing. (Well, except for other people who seem to have the same problem, albeit with no solution).
ANY kind of advice would greatly be appreciated. (Save for switching ISPs... it's not my computer :D)
Perhaps you misread my post.
I am not now nor have I ever been an AOLer.
Call me that again and I'll demo my new invention that allows me to stab someone in the face over the internet. ;-)
Then the problem is with AOL's software. Especially if others you've found on the 'net are having the same problem. Don't waste any more of your time on trying to figure this one out.
AOL is crap. Dump it and get Juno. $9.95 per month for unlimited access.
The last time I had to reboot every day to have peak performance was when I was using windows 98.
Now I'm using Linux and the only time I ever have to reboot is if I accidentally kick my graphic card and it locks up on me (my computer doesn't have the entire case on it, so sometimes I kick the card, whoops).
But even one WindowsXP or 2000, you do not NEED to reboot on a daily basis. I have had XP run for WEEKS at a time without needing a reboot.
I don't know about AOL tech support, I've called it, and if the queue is to long, the system just hangs up on you, with no warning.
I'm jumping in a little late, So did you figure it out yet?
If not here's my suggestions
1st make sure you have the right printer picked and correct settings
click
>>File
>>Print Setup
Check to see if the Printer is the one you want to print out to. AOL tends to add "Ghost" Printers (i.e. "PaperPort") that do not work.
The settings should be
Size: letter
Source: Automatically select
2nd When you hit print,
Click the "Options" tab and make sure the settings are set to print "All Frames Individually" and UNcheck if checked the "Print all linked documents" and "Print table of links" buttons.
Back at the "General" tab
Click
>>Preferences
>>Advanced
Make sure the "Advanced Printing Features" are enabled
(You may or may not have this option depending on your printer)
If this doesn't work and you haven't figured it out and if you still want me to PING the Xers let me know. I'll have to do it later when I get home from work, my connection at work or Freerepubic is slow and I'm having trouble doing large (like the 200+ names on the Xer list) pings (It took me 5 tries for the Xer PING before today)
After you have displayed the printer dialog, right click the printer you want to be default and select Set as Default Printer from the popup menu.
This may not be the problem, but it's worth a shot.
Ctrl/P
A friend had such a problem with pop-ups on AOL - she just stopped using her computer.
youre friend must be challenged.....there a simple little button you push that says no pop ups
I havent had a pop up in months
fwiw - stay off of DRUDGE - its a hole of nasties
Buy a decent antivirus program / suite and a decent adware (I run 2 myself) - run them once a week and you should be fine
Ive been with aol since v1.0 - I had Prodigy before that
Now, is aol buggy sometimes - yeah - mostly on the new releases....so wait a few months before loading it
Plus the email settings are great - 2-3 spam mails a week in my mailbox- no big deal
I had my PC uncased earlier this year, after Xena's Guy upgraded my video card.
Then we put the case back on, for what were likely aesthetic reasons, and now one of two things happens - almost always while I'm playing "City of Heroes."
Either the PC gets too hot and reboots, or Dennis the cat sits on top of the PC and blocks the vent, and the PC gets too hot and ditto.
There is seriesly nothing more frustrating than being in the middle of a pitched battle against space Nazis and other forces of evil, and having your damn screen go black . . . and then that Windows start-up logo shows up.
Grrrrrr.
hehe, I know your pain! Except mine never overheats. I just keep the side off of the case because I'm always inside there messing around with stuff! :)
Dump AOL.
Do you have Word? If so just hit your Print Screen button in the upper right hand corner left of the num lock, Caps lock, Scroll lock and then go to Word and paste it onto Word. Then print it. That should work. Easy too.
