The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I just got back the Gerber Aircrew knives from engraving. The black anodizing is so tough, the laser barely touched it. The cleaner factory markings must have done with a much more powerful YAG laser.

Still, it's readable, and quite subdued. Anybody who gets one should be thrilled. Corin, do I have that address for that young Marine?

I was going to post an update about my reading but somehow I felt that was inappropriate given this conversation. Please take care of yourselves. My father died of liver cancer at 79. He hated drinking water and taking vitamins and was incredibly stubborn (didn't want to give up his cigar). I think chemotherapy killed himself imho from what my mother told me about his treatment. My mom had to have a hysto for fibroids too. I don't eat any meat though I have a little milk in coffee. Otherwise, I exercise and try to enjoy life and believe it or not since my helpmeet-of-the-future told me that he loved me dearly my health has improved vastly.

There's more I can say but it's four AM and I just woke up :-)

Enjoy life without meat?! :)

I try to eat more healthy, but when faced with a chocolate chip cookie I start thinking "I might die in a wreck this afternoon. Better have the cookie while I can."

Well, thanks for all the cheery health updates. ;-)

Seriesly, I feel ~pretty~ good about the diagnosis. It's happened before, just not this bad. Plus when I had the endoscopy a couple of years ago (when I was doing that arthritis study), the hiatal hernia showed up.

That said, I feel like a blasted pharmacy this morning. I'm poppin' more pills than Nana.

This week's project is to start looking into how to control weight, arthritis, cholesterol and acid reflux through nutrition. I don't want to live on these drugs. (and yes, I know that controlling the first one is a HUGH part of controlling the other three)

We are not optimistic about our culinary future.

Just think how many people on the Titanic skipped dessert.
