The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

     | Upon the hearth the fire is red,Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
 Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!
 |
      |
      | Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!
 |
      |
Home is behind, the world ahead,And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
Well wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, it turned out that Paul came home this afternoon to do his laundry, so we decided to do Father's Day dinner tonight. While Clare and I were setting up for the Pancake Breakfast at church, Paul and his friend Brandon grilled the steaks, and dinner was ready when we got home. We gave SSQ his gifts, a reciprocating saw and a circular saw. Paul and Brandon left about 9:30, and about 25 minutes later, I went up to the laundry room and saw his dress shirts! I called him on the cell phone and they had to come back and get them! They left again about 1/2 hr. ago. Needless to say, I didn't get the chance to do the chat view. I have a TV in the den where my computer is, but I don't have a DVD player for it. That will need to be rectified. ;o)
Saw the teaser trailer for Goblet of Fire online today. Most cool! I found the audio book on tape and bought it so Clare and I can listen to it on the way to Japan. We already listened to "Phoenix". ;o)

Phoenix is much better but GoF has good bits... I don't like the audiobooks because we (my sisters and mom and I) do a better job! (Just kidding)

    gmrg...whurzma coffee...
OK...I know the guy in OT's picture (of course!), but...I have no clue who the guy you posted is, I don't think.
Matthew Perry. His character name was "Chandler Bing".
Started watching the old clunky mimiseries "V" last night. Another one of those things that are more fun the less seriously you take them.

Dunno what V's about, either. ;-)

I know so little about the world...

It's not quite six, but it's too hot to sleep anymore. Guess I'm going to the earliest Mass again. *yawn* Hope it's cooler tonight.

Good Morning All - First pot of coffee has raised the caffine level to achieve mobility with a modicum of safety. And now gypsygirl has indicated her walk is 'seriesly' overdue.

Good morning on Hobbit wedding anniversary day! A year ago on the morning, all the Hobbit Hole wimmin who stayed here were rumbling awake and having coffee.... watching me curl my hair on the porch :~D
To: HairOfTheDog

    I hadn't yet ;~D

We are needing to go clean stalls and get up to the beach house today. We're taking dad out to breakfast, and then we'll be having a lunch at the place we went after the plane dropped us off in Gig Harbor.

To: HairOfTheDog
Sounds good. I'm watching Vertigo with the commentary (associate director and the film restorers.) Guess I'll watch the race. Might putter around in the yard again.

That series started out pretty good, then kinda went downhill. I don't recall if it was on one season or two.

To: HairOfTheDog
Dang, that's a great shot of the intrepid trail rides.

To: osagebowman
It sure did, didn't it? I'm sure Bear and/or Rose will know how long it ran.
