That's if I don't chicken out on account of the heat. But I'd like to do it, just to see if we can!
And so I can maybe stop at the bike shop and see if there's a quick-fix for squawking brakes. They work...but they're really, really noisy. Especially early in the morning. I was cringing every time I had to brake.
Mmm... Samurai Champloo... gotta try to get hold of a good bit of that, I think if I watched more than one ep I'd get into it.
I'm waiting for Rosie to get off the phone, then we're biking to B&N. It's hot here! We might have to use the AC tonight...
I'm gonna try to do it. I now have a DVD player in my computer, so I'll see if I can do the chat/view thing. Does it do a split screen thing where you can see the movie and the chat page at the same time?
You can do it that way. Most of us put the movie on tv and chat with the computer.
I have in the past had one window with the movie and one with the chat, too.
They feel pretty hard...I'm wondering if they're just old, maybe. But if they ARE backwards...is there any easy way to tell?
We're going right by the bikeshop anyway, though...so it's no big deal to stop in, and I think they're pretty good. Should be able to tell me what's up.
It's easiest to just use the TV, if you can...but like Jen said, you COULD also resize the window the movie is playing in and chat in another window.
Well if they have groves of bumps on them that are like arrows. Like this:

Then those should point against the rotation of the tire. Upstream you might say.
Well...after a bit more riding time, the sqeak seems to have gone away. They aren't new brakes...I understand sometimes that can cause squeaking. But the bike store guy said maybe they had settled in from whatever was causing the squeak, or something wore off...bit of grit or something. He showed me how to tell if they were getting too worn, so I can be checking. And they have a short warrranty, so if it comes back, I can go back to the shop and beg for help. ;-)
We went to the bookstore. First ride in real traffic, in my case, anyway. It wasn't tooooo horribly bad, though it's HOT out there. Currently about 85. Water is a good, good thing.
Here's the complete email exchange, minus the usual redactions.

A few quick answers to your questions.
1. You deserve a knife like this because your raised your right hand and swore to defend America.
2. The Hobbit Hole will mail you one as soon as I can get to the post office.
3. The US government has bought 30,000 of them, and it has a NSN. Camillus sells these knives to us for the same price they sell to the government. The price is VERY good.
4. We have no idea if the taxpayer's BK2s get into the hands of the troops. My suspicion is that they will sit in a warehouse for 30 years, and then be sold as surplus.
Thank you for your service to America. Please accept our humble knife with our gratitude. Rick

To whom it may concern,
One of the Squad Leaders in my Platoon received one of your knifes in the mail today. Probably the best knife that I have ever seen. His name is SSG Dan F., I don't know how he was able to get this knife, neither does he for sure, but it was the Camillus / Becker Knife and tool BK 2 "Campanion". He was given a letter stating that it was a special knife that was only given out to the front line troops in battle.
I must agree that it is a very special knife! A remarkable knife if I may say so myself. I want to know what I need to do to obtain one of these incredible knife's myself. In 1999 to 2000, I served in Kosovo, immediately after 9/11 I served in Afghanistan, both with the nnn Infantry Regiment out of the [redacted]. 52 days from my return from Afghanistan, I redeployed to OIF I with the [redacted] Division, and am currently in OIF III with the same unit. I can think of numerous uses for a outstanding knife of this caliber.
How much does it cost, how soon can I get one, and most importantly, why have you not submitted this wonderful knife to the U.S. Military to replace the old and out dated bayonet?
This is such a well balanced perfect gripped knife. What a terrific product!

Rick-
Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how much I appreciate the knife you sent. Something like that was the last thing I was expecting, so I was quite suprised to find it in the package you sent. Everyone who has seen it thinks it's the greatest knife. I've had many offers for it, but I'm keeping it. Looking forward to taking it out into sector with me. Hopefully don't have to use it, but it's a piece of mind. Once again, thank you for your support and all you have done to support us in Iraq. Take care.

Very cool.... Everyone, if you haven't sent $$$ in lately, it sure sounds like winmag has a lot of demand for these new knives! See above emails.
