The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

That's what *I* thought...until I got turned down over and over and over.

I know...I'm being negative. But I'm just starting to feel rather hopeless.

Oh, man... after all that and then they decide they don't need anyone? Sheesh. That's awful.

I can take you over to the vet school later, it's on the south side of campus, I think, and getting there by car is easiest.

I have to go to the student services center...not directly to the school. And that's if I manage this form.

Right now, I'm just not with it. But I'd really appreciate it if you *could* help me once I finish the form.

Right now, what I FEEL like doing is more along the lines of curling up on the couch with a box of Kleenex and a half gallon of seriously chocolate ice cream, but life goes on, I guess, and I gotta deal with it.

I'm not exactly inclined to be picky at this point.

Right. You gotta keep going. Tonight you can curl up with the ice cream but right now you've got to have different priorities.

Instead, they decided another worker wasn't in their new budget...so they canceled the search. Not hiring. ARGH! That's rotton!

Understand about the paperwork hassles though. Went through that about three years ago. *shudder*

Oh Rosie. :(

The only thing I can think to say is that these jobs weren't meant for you. Just wait until God opens the right door.

Just wait until God opens the right door.

I've been waiting almost three months. He's taking His sweet time. And I'm sure there are reasons, but it's awfully hard to accept.

I'm really struggling with trust right about now. And mad that no one is willing to give me a chance. I know I can always work as a clerk for six bucks an hour or so, but that means chucking everything I've learned up to this poing out the window...get out of the computer field for even a short time and it's all but impossible to return.

You may be on to something there.

What about getting something as a filler job until the right one opens? I mean, try getting a clerk job to pay the bills as much as possible, and then keep on looking for the *real* career you want. When you get the real thing, quit the other job.

Then there are the temp services. Sometimes those even lead to permanent positions.

God grant me patience, and I want it RIGHT NOW! LOL.

Oh, hon, I know it's hard waiting, but something great will turn up for you, I just know it! After all, all our prayers are NOT in vain! ;o)

He never does seem to teach us trust by making things quick or easy. Flipping things to the bright side.... just think if it takes this long for him to open the door it must be a really big door.

Ah hills. Get a running start and downshift early and often. It is easier to move you legs around faster but doing less work than it is to move them very slow and painfully.

By the end of the summer you will laugh at how big 25 miles a week seemed to be.
