Hire a lawyer and get the ticket reduced to a non-moving violationShould be easy to do -- 39 mph isn't moving!

39? Piker! If you're going to get a ticket you might as well go all the way. I recommend next time you go 79 in a school zone while driving under the influence, talking on a cell phone, in an SUV.... Newspaper headline will read: SUV Caught Speeding In School Zone!

It'll take him a long time to flee the country at 39 mph....They just don't understand. According to PATRIOT 2, speeders are supposed to be brought to GITMO, to be interrogated about the location of other speeders.
She needs to GET OUT OF THE COUNTRY, FAST.

It also depends on what state/county you live in and where it happened.....

when the cops asks if you know why he pulled you overI like to ask it HE does.
Then when he says yes, I say, "Well at least one of us knows what's going on here."
Then I press the cops nose and make a BEEP BEEP sound.

39 in a 25 zone!?!? Holy Molly.
You're only hope is to plead insanity.
(I'm sorry, couldn't help it.)
Seriously, 14MPH over isn't good. Usually 12 MPH over is the cut-off for leniency - at least in IL. But if this is your first 'mover' in eons you might catch a break from 'Da Judge'. Another factor is if it's a local, county or State Police ticket. Local = good, County = bad, State Police = fugtaboutit.
My guess is you're looking at a nice fine, court costs and a up to a year court supervision and driving school. No police contact during your supervision and your ticket goes away. Also if its local and you plead guilty, pay your fine your insurance company likely won't find out. But never ever plead guilty for a County or State ticket. Unless you're Bill Gates and can self insure.
And I wouldn't hire a lawyer - yet. See how the cases before you go (sit up front). If Da Judge is a jerk and is sending people to prison for spitting, ask for a continuance (your allowed two in IL) then get a lawyer.
(I'm not a Lawyer, but I've played one in court - more times than I care to recall thank you)

You can even take a defensive driving course over the internet. And yes, it is far better than leaving the ticket on your driving record.

You were probably a victim of tax collection. Better to go take a course on the abuses of governments.
