Saturday Night Live cartoon trashes FoxNews and their show hosts in final show of the season

Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes were in the 'Robert Smigel' cartoon on the final 'Saturday Night Live' show of the season Sat. night. In the cartoon they showed Sean and Alan on the set of Hannity & Colmes. It went by so quick that I do not have the exact quote from Sean's character, though I think it was Christian/religion related.

They also had a couple of other FoxNews show hosts... I know that John Gibson was one of them.

FoxNews was cast in a negative light as you can imagine... as though FoxNews is a cover-up organization for George Bush and the Republican party.

Hopefully someone here has a video saved from SNL last Saturday night they can link to it here.

Has anyone saved it? Well, I'm not sure if anyone sane would waste hard drive or tape space on something so unfunny.

If NBC had any wits whatsoever, they'd keelhaul Tina Fey, and overhaul the show - a complete flush: cast, producers, band, etc. - next season.

SNL is still on the air? After the good cast members from the early 90s left, it has plummeted downhill. I miss Phil Hartman and his many screwball characters. Dana Carvey and Mike Meyers were a riot. The current crop is many times worse than the low spot circa 1982-1983. The writers suck and the "talent" is on a rung below the writers. Pull the plug or gets some fresh writers and talented performers.

It is Saturday Night Live. I've seen them make plenty of jokes at the expense of politicians of all ideologies.

If memory serves, Darrell Hammond performed several Dan Rather skits late last year after the ANG/George W. Bush fraudulent story he aired.

No need to be outraged on this one.

That's why we tend to watch Mad TV if we are up late on Saturday nights. Stephanie Weir is the best.

MAD TV does have some good moments. I remember the way that they skewered Al Gore during the 2000 election. Also, some of their recurring characters are funny (i.e. Bunny Swan). SNL is nothing more than poop jokes and knee jerk comments about Bush/Republicans/conservatives.

We will switch over to SNL during Mad TV commercial breaks in hopes of catching Horatio Sanz doing his Elton John impersonation. It's as good as anything ever done on SNL.

Tina Fey seems to be the ringleader of the anti-American, anti-Bush/Republican/conservative bent to the show. Although as previously mentioned a few posts ago they also have some excellent skits that spoof democrats as well.

Sure, but you have to wade through tons of pointless, unfunny crap to find a sliver of a gem these days on SNL. I have found more comedy watching the Prime Minister's questions on C-Span than during an average night of SNL over the past several years. I don't mind the occasional spoofs on pubbies; some of them have been jolly funny. Hell, one of my favourite SNL skits was from circa 1986-1987 where they showed Reagan running the White House single-handedly. Carvey's Bush 41 bits were golden. Over the past four years, I have found that I have to wade through hours of dull junior high school level twaddle to watch a couple of funny skits.

They portrayed Zell Miller as a screaming lunatic.

Why are the "liberals" who are in possession of ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN and 99% of Hollywood and most "news"papers so afraid, envious and contemptuous of one network that might be middle of the road or conservative?

It's like the world's 1.7 billion Muslims being terrified, intimidated, "victimized" and PO'D about the world's less than 13 million Jews, way out of porportion to the reality of the numbers.

But then, maybe the Islamofascists have got it right, maybe it only takes less than 13 million Jews to kick 1.7 billion Islamofascists butts. They should be very afraid.

Actually MAD TV did take on Bill O'Reilly and there was one episode last year that O'Reilly appear as himself

It was funny skit when MAD TV did Fox news

I usually turn off the Smigel "cartoons" the minute they come on, because they always seem to viciously attack conservatives or the administration.

And the Chris Matthews parody they started out with was pathetic - especially the Zell Miller impersonation. The only part funny about the entire parody was when the Isikoff character was apparently being duped when getting a tip about "Prince Albert in the can......" (old joke).

The Simpsons always make fun of Fox news, they do it in a light harder fun way, they make fun of the whole Fox network actually.

I think SNL has lost its touch though.

MAD TV did a great satire on the 2004 debates.

SNL did a propaganda piece where they stuffed a bunch of liberal talking points into the mouths of Bush and Blair. No jokes just BS.

I find fox news reporting embarrasing. The female anchors are such airheads; the males are not much better. MSNBC if preferable. Sean Hannity and O'Reilly are also becoming very stale. I am so sick of these females who are obviously brunettes coloring their hair the same brassy color. Everybody has chiclet teeth. There is such an overwhelming image consciousness and everybody bobs there heads and smiles like a bunch of idiots. I understand the need for a good appearance, but it has just gone too far. And Rita Crosby...shudder. Peter Finch where are you; ugh, tv. V"s wife.

Rita Cosby did not have her contract renewed at Fox. She won't be back. However, do you dislike her because she doesn't measure up to the female looks standards of the other anchorettes, or for some other reason? Just wondering, since you went after the anchor babe types most of all, then ended by going after Rita, who doesn't fit that profile.

It's difficult to take SNL seriously, or comedically, about anything. The last skit I watched on SNL had an Ann Coulter impersonator interrupting a Chris Matthews impersonator on Matthew's show. Yeah, somebody interrupting Matthews. I bet that happens a lot (/sarcasm).

SNL?? Most Saturday nights I'm out doing something fun, you know, enjoying life. Instead of sitting home and wallowing in self-pity like most liberals they're catering to.

It is the opinion of all groups I've talked to that the new cast and writing fro SNL is not funny. Most have moved on to Chappelle, South Park, Crank Yankers, MadTV, and the other options out there.

The only redeeming value, if you can call it value, is the Robert Smigel's TV Funhouse cartoons. I still laugh thinking of their Super Friends parody using the ex-presidents of the USA. At the end, the presidents play a song of world peace ala The Archies, Fat Albert, and Josie and The Pussycats.

Re: Among the skit's most popular recurring characters:

The X Presidents - Former US Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush as crime fighting superheros, granted superpowers by a 'hurricane powered dose of radiation' received at a celebrity golf tournament. Despite his status as a former president, Bill Clinton is not a member (though he occasionally does appear in the cartoons),and the deceased Richard Nixon has appeared once, while the deceased Reagan still is a member.

The Ambiguously Gay Duo - Vaguely effeminate superheros Ace and Gary.

The New Adventures of Mr. T. - The aforementioned former A-Team star, desperate to find work and aggressively auditioning for parts in classical theatre, and in a tampon commercial.
