Patriots across the country need to do the right thing and turn their back on Lucas...and show the world we disagree with his assesment of life in America. The spitting on the troops in Vietnam continues and now he spits on our troops in Iraq. What are we doing in Iraq, Mr. Lucas? Freeing a nation from a tyrant.

PING your list please...
Wonder what Lucas means by "what we did in Vietnam"? Stopping the spread of communism was a bad thing?

Man it does hurt. But truth is truth. What an idiot, even if he does believe that. I was going to the theatre. Forget it!

It's hard to boycott something that I already had no plan to see. Episode 2 was dreadful.

Screw it. I'm seeing it anyway. My life is not enslaved to political ideaology; I'm going to enjoy a dark fantasy romp in a universe I've visited often from the time I was 12 (I'll be 40 next Sunday).

Even though I'm not on seeing the movie anyway (love the original trilogy, but Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones were horrible), and you certainly have the right to your protest and I admire your convictions- this movie is easily going to gross hundreds of millions of dollars. If you want it to fail because of what Lucas said, I certainly hope you can take disappointment well.

The parallels between what we did in Vietnam and what we are doing now in Iraq are unbelievable.Whether he realizes it or not, the above statement is literally true. Very few believable parallels exist between the two situations, except in the minds of anti-Americans.

Sorry, can't sign up for that one: I've been waiting for this particular installment of the Star Wars story since 1977.

Won't be hard for me to not see this 6th Star Wars movie. Give me a break...the story started 28 years ago for cryin out loud. Boring....
To: Jon Alvarez
You know, I'm probably not going to see star wars anyway. But we really don't have to boycott everyone that doesn't agree with our politics.
I boycotted Target when they tuned down the Salvation Army, and refused to buy Tide when I learned my money was going to benefit "domestic partners." I'll do what I can to ensure that Judeo-Christian values flourish in this land. I've boycotted China when they refused to return our plane in a timely manner, and boycotted France for it's alliance with Saddam. Conversely, I've taken a liking to all things "Made in Poland."
But war protesters have always been around, and although I disagree with them on this war, they have a right to speak their minds. We're not the "Thought Police."

OMGWTFBBQ!111!! OH TEH NOES!!111!! LUCAS IS TEH SUX0RZ!!!
Seriously. overreaction doesnt even begin to describe this, but... to each his own.
Yeah lucas might be the typical hollywood pinko, but being a patriot doesnt mean blindly cramming your nose up the current leaders arse and blindly, unquestioningly following where they lead just because they claim to be a conservative (yet rarely exhibit evidence of this in action).
Yeah, I'm back in Iraq on another project for another year, I'll likely be stay on for 2006 as well.
yes we did a good thing in taking out saddam. another side effect was it scared the bejeezus out of alot of the arab state sponses of terrorists and gave them pause - but I have no problem acknowledging that the people who are saying our coming here and the way it was done was not constitutional are exactly right. to deny that is ignorance or outright self delussion.
again, I'm not feeling really eloquent right, but i am getting sick of this lockstep brownshirtish crap. DU doesnt have a monopoly on it from what i've seen.
there, I've said my peice, now ban me.

As a result of this I vow that I will not see the movie more than twice...maybe three times. When it comes out on DVD I will not buy it until a minimum of three weeks after the release. And when the 6 DVD boxed set hits the market I will try to find a used set on Ebay before I go buy it.

Sorry, but I think you may be misplacing your support for the troops. Speaking as one who just returned from Iraq less than 2 months ago, I would say that in some ways, Lucas is absolutely correct. The reason we are in Iraq may be different than the reason we were in Viet Nam, but what we are doing there is essentially the same (if I understand my Viet Nam history correctly).
We have established camps. From these camps we have set up remote positions which we call foward operating bases instead of firebases. from the forward operating bases, we send out patrols, who drive around, looking for bad guys.
Sometimes, we set up ambushes and catch the insurgents as they are getting set up to attack us, other times, we don't catch them in time, and they spring their ambushes, then fade away, leaving our troops with nothing to shoot at.
I've been waiting 28 years for this movie, and would cross through a picket line by Bush, Condi Rice, Cheney, and Rumsfeld to get inside the theater for this one.

The only reason not to go are your own personal ones. How is a boycott going to impact Lucas? He is a multibillionaire already. If no one went at all to this new installment he wouldn't lose a penny. Pepsi alone paid 2 billion for the marketing rights to the 3 prequels back in the 1990s. That works out to $667 million for each movie. Boycotting Pepsi might be more effective. I prefer Coke anyway. The best way to hurt Lucas is to remind him of Howard the Duck every now and then.

This reminds me of the Hippie days when people would set around and want to get the meaning out of each and every song.
Sometimes there is no meaning just entertainment.

Uhh, did anyone here see "Attack of the Clones"? Who in their right mind would PAY to see another George Lucas movie? What was the last good movie he directed? When was the last time he provided any wit, drama, or brilliance in his art?
Methinks the vast multitudes are gonna be disappointed yet again. His political musings only offer further proof of his alarming decline in judgement.
