How does this present administration view dead beat dads? I have received no child support for 26 months, my ex husbnd is a Greek Orthodox Priest who holds a valid Marriage Counselor Licence and Mental Health Therapist.

Sorry, doesn't sound like someone who's looking for immediate help to me.

Then educate her as to the proper role of the fedgov. I told her that in response to her freepmail - that she had my sympathy, but it wasn't the fedgov's responsibility to crack down here.

However, we had people disparaging this person for getting knocked up and wanting the dad to pay - as if she were some single woman who got pregnant from a one-night stand.

Apparently, the fact that this person doesn't understand the concept of federalism (which a majority of Americans do not) gives folks here license to make light of a very difficult personal situation that she's in and question her morals. And then we wonder why our message doesn't have a broader appeal.

Then anyone who has a child support order should ask their lawyer what to do to have it enforced.

She's trying to. But she seems to be at the end of her rope - and she's probably been propagandized by the media so much that she thinks the fedgov can help solve this.

You have a point - there were a few who couldn't read the misspelled word "husbnd" as "husband", and thought it meant "casual contact".

This person also does not seem to understand that for immediate relief she has to work with existing laws and charities. New laws are a long-term solution, federalism or not.

Most lawyers will not take a case until after a retainer is paid. You need money? Give me $2500 & I'll see what I can do for you. After you've paid them off from your divorce, they are under no further obligation to take care of everything that may come up afterwords.

Collection agencies require a signed contract & won't guarantee that they will collect anything. Generally, most of them only work the easy cases. They take a third or more of anything they collect, right off the top.

You do not need a lawyer to file for contempt charges against someone who is not following a lawful court order. I've helped people walk themselves through some of the process. Courts are used to seeing people do things like this themselves. Many court houses have pro se or self help centers & most of those will have helpful people to give you the form you need & will tell you what to do with them, after you've filled them out. I've also helped walk people through the process of filing for a child support reduction.

My question was not only because of my own situation (parenting alone sux & the kids are better off with both parents anyway), I had alterer motives. First, kids being withheld from a parent with a financial obligation gives the parent justification not to pay. Second, parents that see their kids are statistically better payers. They get to see where at least some of their money is going.

Finally you see the point of her post. She didn't understand so she turned to a group of people to find out what to do. Instead she was viciously attacked and banned from FR. If we ban everyone who doesn't understand something, nobody would be left on FR.

I've seen too many who wanna take the kids, so they won't have to put a single red cent into the hands of their "greedy" ex. Anything you can say about fathers, can also be said about mothers. Statistically, non-custodial mothers are the worst payers.

How hard is it to stay on your own thread and help explain your situation to a group of people who really would help?

I've smoked out hundreds of trolls. But I check their posting history and try and gauge their sincerity. A few folks instead just ripped into her.
