Perhaps some of you would like to wish him well.

I try to read all your posts because they provide a unique perspective. Having been raised abroad, the one thing I do know is that the US has no better friend in this world than the UK.
I do not understand the vitriol here about the UK in general based on the fact that many in the UK opposed the Iraq war since many in the US did the same.
MadIvan's leaving is really all of our faults. The incivility and downright hostility here is real and demonstrable on numerous levels.
As another Floridian, I'm in complete agreeance.
When I log on in the wee hours of the morning, I look forward to your post, Ivan. I will miss them alot. Great Britian is our best friend, and I love her for that. Best wishes, friend.
We all take a bit of a beating around here but I can't say I've ever really pondered leaving FR. I suppose I would take the abuse a bit more personally if these attacks were aimed at my country.
Still, it's his time. He can spend it anywhere he likes. God bless him.
Why all the Florida bashing? Two words. Jeb Bush. They can't get the President so they go after him. Also to tear him down in the eyes of the voters for future elections. Listening to Bill O'Reilly one would think that Florida is the only state in the union with inefficiencies and problems.
As I recall, according the British opinion polls, a significant portion (majority??--at this point I don't recall the numbers) of the British population feels about the US just like the Germans and French. A large number of those are in Tony Blair's own party.
I just said this on another thread, so I'll repeat it here:

A few of your allies are leaving and you're feeling like you're losing control of the forum?
It's not a few; and it's not all my buddies; until the last four months, even the ones of us who wanted to kill each other could agree on certain subjects and laugh with each other.
It started with the Kidd Rock threads and accelerated from that point on. Now if you put up a NASA thread about the moon, somebody immediately posts that it's too bad that Terri can't see the moon but she was murdered.
So what's your interest in this, newb?
I agree. I've been hit a 4 or 5 times recently with some really ignorant, rude remarks.
I'd like to see him stay and hope that he'll reconsider.
...to start a flame war, why else?
No, that was not my motivation, so please don't start one.
Is he mad?
Getting back to the subject of this thread, Mad Ivan wasn't the only one but through his posts I was able to find out exactly what was going on with the election. Saved me from asking allot of stupid questions.
I hope he stays.
Here let me fix that:

Exactly... The level of pure mindnumbling foolishness often on display is quite astonishing.
