Favorite Conservative Movies?
Posted on 05/04/2005 2:51:42 PM PDT by rogermonroe
I'm a liberal but growing increasingly disenchanted with the left. I'm also a movie fan. I'm looking for a list of the movies most beloved by conservatives, movies that support conservative ideals, films that make a good argument for conservatism. I figured this was the place to go. If you were making such a list, what would be on it? Rambo? Red Dawn? What?
TOPICS: Music/Entertainment; TV/Movies

Some of John Wayne's movies come to mind. We just watched "The Shootist" the other day. There were a few poor scenes. but overall it was a good movie with a strongly conservative message.

"Let's stay home and hunker down" doesn't make a good movie.
It doesn't make good policy either, as the Allies discovered after trying to appease Hitler.
Pat Buchanan praised Ted Kennedy and has allied himself with radical leftist anti-Semites. He's no conservative.

Red Dawn - first ever PG-13 movie. I never did figure out why, with the whole country to choose from, the Soviets began their invasion in central Colorado.

I believe it was Douglas MacArthur who said, if that is not the way the west was really like, it ought to have been.

Backwards? You mean the liberals want the orcs to win?
I can definitely see Helen Thomas rooting for the orcs. "They look almost as ugly as me! I want them to win!"

Straw Dogs (Armed defense of one's home and family)

Ah, that brings back memories of high school days! Hard to believe it's been more than 20 years since that movie came out. Great poster.
