The Hobbit Hole XXI - ...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

No, I committed for one more season just to keep some consistency. Last year we finally rid ourselves of the problem board members.

But they ignored some major structural issues. One of our other board members spent all day on it yesterday whilst I was in the bored meeting. But as of yesterday morning it was looking like we couldn't open for the season.

We're at the point now that we'll be able to limp along.

This all blew up earlier this week when the management company said they couldn't/wouldn't manage us because of the structural problems.

I take every opportunity to let them know I'm done at 6 p.m. on Labor Day.

That sounds interesting. We have a local community theatre, and something like "Contact" looks like a good production for it. I took Clare to see "To Kill a Mockingbird" there this year, and then took her Girl Scout Troop to see "Miss Saigon". Both productions were very well done.

It may depend on the standards of your community.

The first act was set in the 1700s, but it was basically simulated sex on a swing. No dialogue.

For the Richmond audience in the second act, the dialogue was edited to "Frickin'" which the guy said about five dozen times...

This ain't for the Girl Scouts.

Too early to start drinking... but it's never to early to make other people wish they could...

Morning. I didn't hurt from yesterday's workout so I stepped it up today. Whew. And it's already warm here, gonna be mid-90s. Yuck.

Heh, "Miss Saigon" was a little risque, as well, but mostly suggestive dancing and innuendo. There were other families with pre-teens and teenagers there. Earlier in the week, I'd been there to get tickets, and there was a large high school group that had attended the morning production.

Sounds like y'all have all the warm weather this week. We've been pretty cool for this time of year. Not supposed to be much over 60 this weekend and rainy.

Yeah, this is really unseasonably warm - it was like this in August last year.

Sonya wants to bring a baby into it!

Would that be the prettiest baby in the world?

...or hers?...

I don't know what to expect! I haven't seen her since what... February? I expect she's not ready to put on the pony yet.

Not...surprised. Just continually dismayed. Or something.
