The Hobbit Hole XXI - ...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Mornin'

It's been "lookin' like" rain here for days. Weather goobers keep promising it. I wish it would just go ahead and do it, the garden needs it. I'm sure it would rain as soon as I watered the garden.

'Course I thought about settin' up the sprinkler just to pi$$ off the naybers.

Since the was the first morning since beach vacation last summer that I had no real ~reason~ to get up, I slept in. Well until Luke woke up calling for Mommy, who apparently has a touch of Nana-itis in her ears. But that prompted Sam and Nana to get up as well. They're all settled now.

Not sure what we'll do today. Haircuts for me and Luke. A Sam's club run. And tonite is prom nite fer Jr.

Every now and then, when I'm thinking of getting the car washed, the Lord provides :)

Yes, but sometimes, along with the car wash, the Lord turns the outside of your car into something that resembles the outside of a golf ball...you know, hail damage? LOL

Yeah, but I washed the truck the other day and "discovered" another HUGH scrape I don't remember happening. Looks like it was something I woulda had to do. But fer the life of me, I can't remember it.

Morning OT - yup, it's a bit 'moist' today. We're off to pop some caps in a bit. LSA got the rest of mulch spread before the rain and it all stayed in place.

Beautiful clear morning, neighbors are putting on a new roof, trimming trees and cleaning up the yard, got a big construction type dumpster in the yard. The Ex is moving out, she is moving back in, dad and brothers are doing the work. LSA are hopeful the tone of the residence will improve from its present woeful state.

how did your neck of the woods fair last night? We saw a pretty strong squall line headed your way. It hit us, in a much weakened state, in the wee hours of the mornin.

Halloween Galadriel...

elfboy has the Darth Vader mask that has a voice synthesizer. When PE or I talk into it, it sounds like Darth, when elfboy does it, he sounds *just* like Halloween Galadriel. LOL!

Okay,

I've put this off for far too long. Got most of the website archives done (keep finding more articles from 2000 & 2001).

But the sun's out.

Gotta mow...

Prom night with a a race in town?!

Missions accomplished. The arboretum had bay laurel. Woo Hoo! Couldn't find any lemon balm so I got lemon verbena instead. It's still a bit soggy around here and the sunroom is surrounded by a mud flat. Grass needs cuttin' but I think I'll let it dry out a bit first.

Time for second breakfast!

Mmmm...second breakfast.

I'm only finally about to have my first. Then I guess I'll read for awhile.

I don't have a lawn to mow. Guess I'm grateful. I should get a few herbs of my own, though, to compliment what Jen has. Make me feel a bit better about being in an apartment.

Yep, and what I didn't tell him was that my brother had two tickets for the race tonite!

Heh...when Hurricane Fran hit, Richmond was without power for a couple of days (not as bad as Isabel).

The same night of the race "the" social event of the season was happening at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The traveling exhibit of Faberge eggs had just opened. The VFMA has the largest collection outside of Russia. So this ball had been planned for months/years.

We worked it with our photographer friend.

So on one end of town you had snooty rich people drunks who hadn't showered and on the other you had NASCAR drunks who hadn't showered...

Doesn't really matter who you are. Stinky drunk is stinky drunk.
