Thank you, JSteff! Your wife has been through a lot, and I will remember her as I pray for those who are ill.

Prayers for a successful cancer surgery. May the Lord guide the hands of the doctors that they may get it all from your body. Amen

My heart and prayers
It's a strange coincidence, that i found this thread.
I was looking where i should post something similar.
Last Thursday i had the left lobe of my Thyroid removed because of a tumor, when the results came back from the Pathologist, it was found to be Papillary Cancer. I was hoping to get some advise from fellow FReepers who may have already went through this procedure.
From what my Doctor says, the hardest part of the whole procedure is having to go without a functioning thyroid for about 2 weeks, he says it really makes you weak. After 2 weeks their going to kill any remains of the thyroid with radioactive iodine, then they start the thyroid meds (which I'll have to take the rest of my life). Once they start the meds, ill be back to 100% or better.
Tell your friend the surgery is a piece of cake, very little if any pain. and quick recovery time.
Our prayers for your friend, she'll be fine.

Update:
Our Freeperfriend came thru the surgery and recovery, and has received the news that the cancer is, in fact, 'papillary' and which her Dr. has high hopes that it will be controlled by the iodine treatments that is specific for this type of cancer -- including any nodes.
This type of cancer is the most common, not difficult to treat, and success is the highest. Things look really positive.
I have not seen her, but was in touch with a mutual friend. I wish I could have posted this earlier, but I was on the road and when I came home, my computer wouldn't work!!! AAARRGGHHH! Thank goodness I have access to another machine. I will get an update tomorrow and will have another report.
You are ALL so great to have taken the time to pray for someone who was in need of help from high. There is such stress waiting to get the surgery over with, THEN the report to follow AND the recovery. Having the thoughts and prayers from others is, in deed, a blessing. Thank you all very much. I know she will be touched when she has a chance to read them. I'm sure she felt them during this ordeal.
Again ---- Thanks. Freepers are the greatest!
