CNN Sanitizes Blogger Post Calling for Early Death of Benedict XVI
Inside Politics - CNN | governsleast governsbest

Posted on 04/19/2005 1:39:37 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

A few minutes ago, CNN's Inside Politics aired its daily blog segment, and the focus was naturally on reaction to the election of Benedict XVI.

One of the hostettes cited a blog entry from "a gay man in Tennessee," and his entry could be seen on the screen. The hostette read the part in which the man wrote something to the effect "leave it to the Church to find someone to the right of JPII. Can't wait till he starts bashing women, gays, etc."

But the CNN hostette conveniently failed to read the remainder of the man's post, which astute viewers could see on the screen:

"The good news is that Ratzinger is 78 and should die soon."

I would say that this kind of vile sentiment is at least as newsworthy as this man's musings on Benedict's policy positions. Yet CNN chose to suppress it. Gee, I wonder why?

Killers of abortionist doctors are accepted by the conservative media.

Please cite where "conservative media" have accepted anyone's murder. Otherwise, please retract your inciteful statement.

The fact that they're howling in such agony is indicative that the Holy Father is the right man for the job. It is the duty of conservative Catholics to draw around the Holy Father in a ring of steel and defend him against the slander and ill wishes he's receiving.

Regards, Ivan

Great post, Ivan.

Thanks for the ping.

I just heard the top-of-the-hour news from CBS radio. "Some say Pope Benedict XVI is too staunchly conservative to lead the Catholic Church into the 21st Century."

Surprise, surprise. The Democrats have just suffered another loss, and so soon after Kerry, too. The scumbag liberals won't be happy until the Catholic Church and the Pope give their blessing to abortion-on-demand, gay marriage, gun control, massive tax increases, and socialist healthcare.

The headline is misleading. The article simply states that the new Pope is an old guy, and will probably not live long, it does not "call" for his death. Pah. Sensationalism.

"The good news is that Ratzinger is 78 and should die soon."

Are you illiterate or do you just play one on the internet? The fact that the "blogger" made reference to "good news" makes it clear that the "blogger" is hoping for the Pope's quick death. The thread title is accurate.

As a Jew, I would wish the new Pope the traditional Jewish: "may you live to 120!"

************

How wonderful! Amen to that.

Odds are fairly good that, even at 78, Ratzinger may well outlive the blogger.
So true, so sad. So why am I laughing? : )

gay, lesbian, environmental terrorists, all are accepted by the liberal media. Killers of abortionist doctors are accepted by the conservative media. It would be nice to have news people with no AGENDA!

Yikes.

To which this Baptist says "Amen!"

This Methodist also says "Amen".

While conservative catholics are rejoicing in the election of the new pope, and rightly so, nobody should be under any illusion that he sees the world as conservative Americans do. He was very outspoken against the Iraq war and our involvement in it. He said such things should be left up to the UN.

Exactly right. You're not trying to impose your religion on anyone else, you're simply trying to preserve and observe it. People are free to believe whatever they want but they're not free to redefine eternal truth for others.
