reporting in.

Visitation for my FIL is over. I have a rant, but I'm going to hold it in for awhile because this is a family site and I need to clean it up some before I key it in.

But just for a "tease",,,, do you remember that I told how we spent about an hour and 45 minutes planning the flowers? The flowers were not what we spent all that time discussing. We decided on Red Roses for the casket. A Sister in Law changed the order to all white flowers.

The flowers were lovely, but I screwed away an hour and 45 minutes on nothing.

There's more, but I'll tell it later.

I drank a barley pop with my son and his friends a little bit ago. I hope I can get to sleep tonite with that enducement.

These ornaments are beautiful. How long does it take to complete one?

It took me about 3 hours to finish the top netted ornament. It was the first one I've done of that pattern and I had to take out two rows. Usually it takes about 2 hours to make one. The first ornament I made last year took me six weeks, it was very complicated. It would probably take about 10 hours now.

As far as the kitty and Nativity ornaments go, I haven't done much of the loom/peyote stitch, so I'll have to let you know. :)

UG, it's always good to have a "few" projects going at the same time. It keeps us from having to do nothing. haha

LOL, so true. I just finished the cake decorating class, course 3 won't be until August. I get too many things going, and that's when I get into trouble because I can't make a decision on what to finish/concentrate on. It's all in the pacing...

If someone can unlock the secret to not wearing your coffee (only when wearing WHITE or LIGHT colors of course), while on the way to work, Please let me know.

I have no answers, only whenever I wear a light colored shirt I always have spaghetti. ALL of my light colored shirts are stained. It's a plot...

Oh dear! I can only imagine how furious you must be. What an awful time to show one's .. uh .. er .. worst side. Rant away, sweetie! It might be better than committing murder.

*hugs*

Thanks for the heads up on the new Pope. I cannot believe the headlines and content that the media is writing about him. 'Ultra-consevative' 'old' 'divider' 'people are leaving the church by the droves, and they elect a conservative.' 'American liberals are distressed by the choice.' Yada yada yada. The MSM don't have a clue about principles and God and how commandments are meant to be kept, not broken for convenience. I could go on but won't.

Please send prayers to the families of two hikers whose bodies were found in a southern Utah slot canyon. They were to graduate from BYU (my alma mater) next week, and were on a pre-final hike. A real tragedy.

I am speechless at the trick Voinivich pulled today. I am calling his office tomorrow. He wasn't prepared??? Where in the world has he been? This has been all over the news and the committee he was on has been holding hearings for the past few WEEKS. I am so tired of having ONE senator hold things up in the Senate. They're all on power trips.

It's very tragic about the hikers. I have a couple more details. Their bodies were found in a slot canyon, the width above them was 16 inches. Apparently they were in 15 feet of water in wet suits. They think the hikers were caught behind a log and couldn't free themselves. They died of hypothermia.

Unfortunately, we get deaths in Utah this way. Utah can be a dangerous wilderness and even the most prepared hiker or outdoorsperson can be caught unaware.

The waving cowboy on the border between Utah and Nevada was erected today. Unfortunately, he doesn't wave anymore, to save money. He can be seen from both directions.

I remember the waving cowboy from my childhood. We were living in California, but would drive to Utah every summer so that my dad could work on his master's degree at BYU. We knew we were close to Salt Lake City when we saw the waving cowboy. Such memories. I also remember the town of Winnemucca, because of the name. And how boring Nevada was to drive through.

The young marine LCPL and I were talking about things we will appreciate much more about being home:

A private room with a door.
Not having to take a shower with > 100 other folks.
Being able to order stuff on-line and pay regular shipment prices and get stuff the same month.
Not having to plan an outing to Wal-Mart like a major assault. (not having to schedule trips around a landing craft's schedule).
Not having to take a cab from the landing to anywhere interesting.
Cold beer.
Showers that last more than 45 seconds.
TP without splinters.
Freedom.
