That Chow must have been mistreated. I've owned Chows for 20 years, and never had a single problem with any of them. The one I have now, is a spoiled rotten princess...and is afraid of strangers. She barks, growls, then runs and hides behind her momma.

LMAO. We have a Chow who does the same things. We love her to pieces.

Funny the only chow I've know was into eating children, my son included. He gave one child over 70 + stitches and a night in the hospital.

He gave my son at least 10 scars starting with his thighs and heading up to his throat. This dog knew these boys and was not an abused or mistreated dog. He was returned to the owner after the first child was attacked because the owners claimed the boy must have provoked him.

He then just a few months later attacked my 4 yr old who wasn't even near the dog. My child was playing ball and the dog jumped and attacked for no reason. Needless to say I don't trust chows or the other known offenders. I have a special hatred for the chows.

We had a problem around here with someone letting there "Chow" run loose. The athorities treated the whole thing like a joke. They did not want to be bothered. This chow had a problem with not likeing children. Finally, When approached by a 5 year old...This chow took a chunk out of his face....and left scares that will never go away. The owner still tried to rescue the chow from the court. The judge saw it different and had the dog put down. The owner also had no insurance and not a pot to pea in. The childs parents had to foot all the medical bills. I believe that chows need a whole lot of love and care if they are not to turn out with a mean side. They are no where near as mean as a pitbull who is out for blood.

"That Chow must have been mistreated."

Nonsense. There are such things as dogs who naturally are nasty (or at least have some specific trigger). Not every dog who is "bad" ever had a bad owner - that's libel/slander when you have absolutely no proof.

Chow Chows have a reputation for being questionable. To think it's impossible for 1 dog of any kind to be bad sans poor treatment is to be in denial, which is dangerous both for innocent bystanders and to the breed in general.
