I don't like SUV's, not because they are gas guzzlers, but because they have no practical applications unless you live in the sticks.
If you have kids, a minivan is much more efficient, if you don't have kids, a smaller car is more efficient. I guess it comes down to personal choice, but I know maybe 3 people with SUV's that actually leave a paved surface.

:o( ... I don't have a SUV yet. And I was kind of hoping to get a hybrid Highlander in the next couple years. I wouldn't be considered a friend of the UN if I got a hybrid, would I?

But you need one to drive on the beach. All the better to destroy nesting sites of rare sea birds!

(Just my opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary.)

I don't like SUV's, not because they are gas guzzlers, but because they have no practical applications unless you live in the sticks.As someone who has been hit by an 18 wheeler while driving a small car, I feel a certain "need" to drive a vehicle of substance.
I did not heed my Dad's advice as a traveling salesman to drive something built for my safety first. "When you drive over 40,000 miles a year it's not a question of "IF" it's a surety of "WHEN."

Hybrid=Headache
They only market them as hushpuppies to the enviro~iratants.
As an added bonus, the manufacturers know that whoever buys them will be double punished down the line with high repair costs & low resale value.

For all the times I've been thanked for spending others money by supporting government programs here on FR let me be the first to thank you for spending my money by driving up the cost of gasoline:) (please disregard the hypocrisy of this post as I drive a 25 mile commute).
