I agree. The "space race" against the Soviets was one thing but now it's time to let private entities take this over.

too bad. Private enterprise should fund it (the Space Shuttle). Would you invest in such a program? Not me. And I'm not trying to disparage NASA by saying this. It's just that decisions were made during the conceptual-phase of the shuttle program that guaranteed that it would never be economically viable as a launch platform.
