Don't let the door hit you on the way out but my guess is that you have not been a Republican from the postings I have been reading. Another 3rd party person pretending to be Republican so you can put up more vanities and leave the Party again -- isn't that nice. But then this has been the agenda all along -- it became obvious after the first few days that some of you all had another topic on which to trash the Bush Family and Republicans.

What's your screen name going to be next? You forget some of us have been around here for a long time and recognize the rant whatever the subject! :)

You know, that is a very good point. And the seasoned FReepers who are best geared to put these kinds of arguments down have sadly migrated over to a single thread. I think we need them back out here.

Yet there were progressives (e.g. J. Jackson) that did much more.

Name one thing he accomplished other than offering sympathy to the Schindlers.

You are correct. That's why the strategy needs to be - "take back the GOP."

Exactly, and it is worse as they would be winning with 40% of the vote. (The Libertarians do take some Democratic votes though - those who support civil liberties and are not religious, but believe in free enterprise)

It could be said that ultra-liberal splinter groups could be helping the Republicans as well...

I find it a little offensive that you compare Terri's to the persecution of Jesus Christ. And what ORDINARY powers did Jeb have to overturn a court order vindicated by the appellate process? The simple facts of the matter are that the court had the power to decide this case either way, made a decision that many of us disagree with, but not one that constituted an error of fact or law, and that a tragic situation came to a tragic, but lawful end.

Good strategy. Let Hillary win. You can then say ha ha ha to the GOP as you lose your country.

The Libertarian party is full of nuts..

Some of it's principles are ok, but it's one of those parties which are too idealized for the general public to accept.

Perot was an obvious nutcase, ran awful campaigns, and still pulled a fifth of the electorate, on an incoherent populist platform.

We have, as a nation, some critical problems to solve - illegal immigration, massive wealth redistribution, denial of almost all the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights, and government spending, just to name some big ones - where there is no path to a solution through either major party.

A third party that is not crazy like the LP, and not a single-issue party, and not based on a single personality, has a lot of room to work with.

Up to a point, then he did the Pontius Pilate routine and washed his hands. He refused the request of the parent's to use his ordinary powers as governor to take her into custody.

Speaking of Pontius Pilate, where were you in this debate? Why were you not down there in St Pete using your ordinary powers as a citizen to make a citizen's arrest of the people killing Terri?

I sort of feel the same way that you do. But there is no place else to go. We will have to do our best to change the party and put in elected officials that are really pro-life and don't just give it lip service for political expediency. I'll probably be changing my screen name if possible. I'm not for ineffectual leaders and both Bush brothers were ineffectual in this situation.

NO! Time for disappointment in some of the GOP members, including the Bush boys. But, it has become even more clear than ever that priority no. 1 is to get Bush's judicial choices confirmed on the federal bench, and hopefully, to get him a few Supreme Court choices, breaking the Dem. filibuster in the process.

We know now who we can count on to be brave in the face of evil. They are still advancing in the proper direction, as opposed to the alternative. The more true conservatives we get into Congress, the less this will happen with time. Get 60 conservatives into the Senate, and you will see a difference. We already have a solid majority of conservatives in the House, and they are led by a good man, Tom Delay.

Bush had a chance to have one of those moments that show his greatness. We learned what Reagan had inside when he fired the air traffic controllers, and took the heat initially for that. But when people realized that he was taking a principled stand and staying with it in the face of media pressure, they went with him. That same steady resolve is what led to the fall of the Soviet Union, to reform of the tax code, and to the love that the nation showed for him when he died. Bush is doing very well in the war on terror. But he has fallen short.

Thoughtomator says,"Start a new party... it's been proven time and time again that there is a huge underrepresented segment of the electorate just waiting to vote against the establishment if given a chance."

I say, "Forget it, it's also been proven time and time again that a third party just doesn't fly. Stick with the GOP, and work from within. Nothing in this life is ever going to be perfect. We have to do the best with what we've got, and we sure don't want to work for or with the Democrats."

Is your pocket book more important than justice? Good luck.

Pulling votes away from Republicans and electing Democrats would get us more justice? I think you may need to adjust those meds.

We got to this point because of Liberal Democrats. Playing into their hands right now is stupid! Use your brains--don't just get mad - get even. Harry Reid and his band of anti-American garbage need to see and hear an outpouring of rage from the American people. He's set to filibuster judicial nominees so we can continue to get more of these murderous activist judges into our court system. It's time to "clean house" not give in to them. Channel your energy into fighting the Liberals not giving them what they want! They want the Republican Party in disarray. In my book, no way!

The 2 party cabal stranglehold on the USA will be tough to break..

Stick with the pubbies and try to turn them is the only other choice..and I dont know which would be easier or even possible

The only other choice is to simply disengage from all of them
but if you have kids and grandkids...well that isn't really a option is it.

imo
