We have moved beyond the debate about the "right" to die. It's much worse then that.
The situation right now is this: unelected judges vs elected officials. Who is supreme?
Whether you agree or disagree that the person should have the "right" to die is not the matter anymore. The judge, UNELECTED, ordered the starvation of Terri is far more much worse and the precedent for the future of US will be HUGE. Situation like this make me scare to death when I'll be in court knowing that the judges have the power of life and death over me.

If it were only as simple as elected vs. un-elected! Greer is apparently quite popular, even today. The people have chosen . . . and they have chosen evil. Not surprisingly, the other judges--including those at the federal level, who were appointed--have read the handwriting on the wall (as contrasted with the writing in the Constitution and in the bill Congress passed to save Terri's life) and have backed Greer at every step.

I believe Judge Greer was elected. Like most elected judges, no one has a clue about where they stand on issues, and talking about future cases is ethically prohibited.
I doubt Judge Greer will be reelected.

Presisely! If you request to be kept alive then they cannot put you to death. That is how I read the law. What troubles me is that there is apresumption that those like Terri do not want to be kept alive. Hearsay and innuendo should not qualify as ana ssumption. It isn't enough!

Don't forget to indict the MSM in this - they've done their best to disinform the world about Terri's condition. In fact, they've done such a good job that many members here even believe them.
If Terri dies - tomorrow - the shock wave that will roll through our political system will be hard to imagine. I'm not overly religious (although a firm believer), and to me the Biblical similarities of this entire mess are hard to discount.

You've forgotten the first judicial rule, written by the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland. "A word shall mean exactly what I say it shall mean, nothing more". Just because you wrote it down in plain English doesn't mean that a judge can't interpret in the way he wants. They're so much smarter and superior to us, you know.

Unfortunatly, George Greer was re-elected by the voters of Pinellas County, Florida.
They denied due process of "Existing Law" already. The courts are not just judges anymore, they are the law makers and definers. They have supreme power over the Legislative and Executive Branches of Federal, State, County and City Gov't by fiat. What is true today does not, by any means, that they will not change in the future. How many laws have already been overturned by the "Almighty Judges" just this century? Unless the Executive and Legislative Branches of Gov't reign in this usurping of lawmaking which was delegated SOLEY to the Legislative Branch of Gov't, ALL of whom are elected BY THE PEOPLE, then this nation will be ruled by tyrannical judges. And depending upon which president is in office, will decide which kind of judiciary will rule the land. President Bush doesn't seem to care very much about his judicial appointments except to put them forward. He should use his powers as POTUS to stop a minority of senators from blocking his judicial nominees. If the Senate can usurp their laws, then president Bush should place his nominees into office by force if necessary, side stepping the U.S. Senate altogether. If the Senate can break Constitutional Law to get what they want, then President Bush should do the same UNTIL the Senate abides by the Constitution which states that the ENTIRE Senate shall vote up or down on ALL of his judicial appointments.
