You are in control, Terri's mistake was not to have one!

But we all know that judges can make their own law, can ignore federal subpoenas, can order a state governor around, so even if you do have one, you must remember, "we are a nation of laws," and judges tell us what both the law is and what the constitution means, so the moral of the story is make sure you always do exactly what the judge tells you to do, even if you are at the head of one of the three main branches of government.

Bush should have taken Greer away in irons. He would have been a folk and national hero by now if he had.

Jefferson is no doubt spinning in his grave. Jefferson on the Judiciary branch:

"The Constitution is a mere thing of wax in the hands of the judiciary, which they may twist and shape into any form they please." [Sept 6, 1819]

"You seem to consider the judges as the ultimate arbiters of all constitutional questions; a very dangerous doctrine indeed, and one which would place us under the despotism of an oligarcy...The Constitution has erected no such single tribunal...knowing that to whatever hands confided, with corruptions of time and party, its members would become despots." [Sept 28, 1820 letter to William Jarvis]

This quote may be prophetic if you guys don't do the right thing:

"The germ of dissolution of our federal government is in the constitution of the federal Judiciary."

I believe the first shot across the bow against the tyranny of the judiciary was just shot. It will be open warfare very very soon.

If you ask me, it's about time!!!

I agree that one of the Bush boys could have been a genuine hero here. Instead, they backed off - no doubt on the advice of their lawyers - and the political result (as opposed to the obvious and dreadful result of Terri's death) is a major increase in the power of the judicial branch. Because every time you let a bully get away with something, he just gets bolder and meaner and harder to stop the next time.
