My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Two Cardinals
The distant sound of the waterfalls adds a
Softness to the still quietness of the woods
The forests breath smells much different here
Being constantly refreshed in the warm summer sun
Two cardinals quickly glide to
The shallow pool side of falls ahead
They anxiously dip their bright red bodies
Into the glistening calm water
One of them, the female, flies a short distance to
A smooth stone near the pools bank
Shaking the residual water off
She breaking the forests
Silence with her gentle voice
Her mate flies up to a low branch
On a tall hem fir tree
He flaps his wings and being a soliloquy
That begins the music of conversation
Between their other feathered brethren
But only his mate responds and meets him
On the branch. Their voices becomes entangled
In the concert of the changing music of conversation
Then, in the middle of the aria, they fly away
Leaving their fellow feathered musicians to
Continue the concert. But its for only a minute
Before the forests closes the breech
With silence, inviting the next event

Good evening, ms marlowe.
Such a wonderful poem and gorgeous graphic. These wonderful birds are monogamous like Canadian Geese.

Just as a Wave Is Lifted by the Shore
Just as a wave is lifted by the shore,
Then breaks across the slowly rising sand,
So as I watch you weep my feelings pour
Across the wash of what I understand.
I wish I could just take you in my arms
And all your pain could melt into my chest,
And all the violence of passing storms
Could pass through me and finally come to rest.
No words can set things right or presence lend
A miracle to light your darkened way,
But there is solace in a loving friend
And comfort in what I don't have to say.
Whatever circumstance you cannot bear,
Just turn to me, and you will find me there.

Absolutely beautiful poem today. I thought I could find two or three of the best lines to emphasize -but they all are great lines.
Thank You for the daily of contributions of poetry and music to the Lair.

Good morning Ms. Feather.
I Wandered Lonely As a Cloud
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
The stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Outdid the sparkling waves in glee;
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company;
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth to me the show had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Authors note: This poem I jumped out of bed to write as I settled down to sleep looking at a whole heap of ironing in the corner.
This is one of the many poems available in our newly published book "Big Purple Undies" an hysterical look at women's lives in verse available at Dymocks bookstore WA Australia or through our website www.bigpurpleundies.com
How I Wish There Was An Ironing Fairy
How I wish there was an ironing Fairy,
Who appeared when given the sign.
Like the basket spilling over,
And the voices starting to whine.
Mom, is my blue shirt ironed?
Those trousers could sure use a pleat.
He starts to iron like crazy,
With vigour he turns up the heat.
Yes, the fairy would indeed be a male
Dressed in a full tutu with glitters and stars
As I'm stretched out watching "Oprah"
He'd be ironing my knickers and bras
He's finished and he's worked like crazy,
You can hardly see him for steam.
When suddenly I awake from my slumber
And realise it's all been a dream.....

Good morning, ms marlowe.
Ah, a classic poem this morning,
William Wordsworth's, I Wandered Lonely As a Cloud.
It is so encouraging to see the color of daffodils after so many months of bleak grays and snow white lawns.
Lovely graphic too!
Thank You and have a great day.
