BTW, it was Micheal Shiavo who started the government intrusion...

No he didn't. He went to court to resolve a family dispute, which is how our system works. It does not allow for the Government, i.e. Congress, Governors and the President, to get involved in a single case when we don't like the outcome.

BTW, I am not arguing "KILL TERRI". I am not part of any death squad, or national culture of death or any of that. I am simply making the argument that this case has followed state and national law as it sits. If you do not agree with how the laws are, then do something to change them.

Teri would be the correct answer, but her name isn't on the poll. By marrying this guy she has put her family and now the entire country through a nightmare. If Jeb wants to take anyone into protective custody it should be his kids and current fiance'.

Oh Christ, I didn't realise Terri was a Catholic - thus being euthanised contradicts her religious faith as well.

The interpretation of her wishes in this matter is hideous.

This poll is also indicative that there would be not outcry against Governor Bush retrieving her from the villian's warehouse.

He's not likeable, and IMO he is not acting in Terri's best interest. He doesn't pass the living room test, and he never will.

Are you saying that Michael's Attorney, the one that is ON THE BOARD OF THE HOSPICE, is concealing evidence? /sarcasm

If the 'Guardian' has an obvious conflict of interest and can provide no documentary evidence backing his claims, THAN YES... I WANT THE COURT WRENCHING CONTROL away from him and putting somebody else in charge!

"Schiavo wants to marry the mother of his 2 kids in Catholic church. Can't do that if the current wife is alive and divorced."

Since Michael and Terri had no children, he could have had the marriage annulled by the church. Not good enough - why? The problem for him is that he doesn't want there to be any chance that she might ever be able to talk and thus implicate him how she came to be in this condition.

"I will tell you who the villain is here, Satan."

Excellent root cause analysis. The ol' Prince of Darkness must be rubbing his hands together with glee right now, along all his liberal co-conspirators.

"What you fail to realize is you're just as bad as the liberals"

WRONG!!

This case smells

1) Schiavo may have done this to his wife.

2) There is no living will.

3) He refused certain treatments for his wife, which could have made her condition more understandable.

The only person who should have power over her is Terri herself. The issue is what to do in the absence of clear indication of her wishes. Her parents, and her Catholic faith suggests she wants to live - only her husband, whose credibility is dubious, suggests she wants to die. In the face of such a dispute, and given that she is not on life support - she is being fed, not made to breathe - the bias should be for life. If the bias is for death - the risk is run of killing someone in the absence of their desire to die, and second, more "inconvenient" relatives will die based on hearsay and the bias established toward it.

Regards, Ivan

Does Florida law allow for bigamy?

You are wrong. Congress was very careful not to step on anyone's rights and not to trample on our Constitution. Can you show me where they did? I can't find anything that they did that infringed on my rights to die, or live to fight another day, as I see fit.

This is a very sad episide in our history, and the fact that a husband has gotten away with The Perfect Murder, aided by judges that are legislating their own morality from the bench and not just interpreting The Law (which, I'm pretty sure IS how their job description reads) should alarm everyone.

"Neither do I and that's why I feel bad about pinging, but I wanted the list to see the various comments. The war of words so to speak. It's hard to get this kind of stimulating conversation at work. :)"

I thought so, I just wanted to be sure.

The door was left open and all the rulers of the world have come to FR.

I have read several sane comments, but for most they are rambling essays on killing Michael Schiavo, Judge Greer (even Rush is off the wall with his ... all the judges are evil ... bit) Congress, the president, the governor, etc. etc.

Then we have the morons that will pay for Theresa's care, yet haven't done a damn thing about it since the inception, these many years ago. Even one from Asia who wants to start a militia to free Theresa, and so it goes.

Stimulating?

These mopes wouldn't know facts if they got hit in the head with them. They thrive on ... "I heard this ... I heard that".

I guess you are right though. The stimulation appears to be clearing out my arteries . ;)

Don't misplace your living will. These jerks will never let you die.

This is almost better than O.J. for the media. It's really sickening to watch.

The villains are the courts, MS, Felos, and any other inhuman SOB that would starve the poor woman to death.

I don't want a court making my end of life decisions for me.

May you find yourself a spouse who chooses to starve you to death.

The court has all the information. In fact, I bet they have a little bit more information than you do. And they have determined there is no reason to sever his guardianship. Just because you have these people crawling aout of the woodwork making outrageous claims doesn't meant they are credible. Have her parents petitioned to have him removed for cause? Have they ever made allegations against him?

If I view Michael Shiavo in the light most favorable to him, and put myself in his shoes, HE STILL STINKS...

If my wife (god forbid) were in this position, and I 'thought' she wouldn't want to live like this, but her family thought I was incorrect, I WOULD DEFER TO HER BLOOD FAMILY. The difference, a husband can divorce his wife, but parents are blood FOREVER.
