Why is a husband who has clearly taken another wife still allowed to be guardian of the first wife? It should not be his decision to make. And no one should be allowed to decide to starve another person to death. If she were on life support that would be different, but she isn't. She is being denied BASIC care -- food and water.

Is the foster child on life support as defined in the Florida statutes? Then yes, you can.

If not the guardian, who?I'd agree if there was definitive proof of that. However, this is all hear say evidence and technically inadmissible in a court of law. But in today's courts, it apparently doesn't matter.

BTW, how long were Michael the bigamist and Terri married before this tragedy happened? Counting back, she should have been about 26 when this happened. How long had they been married? They were married for slightly more than five years when the tragedy happened.

Here's where you've taken a leave of your senses.
When liberals are in the White House everyone on this site, including me, were MAD AS HELL about the feds getting into family business.
Now, most of you think it's okay because our GUYS are in control.
What you fail to realize is you're just as bad as the liberals. It's not about our team v. their team, it's about big government v. limited government.
That's what our entire conservative fight is about. As soon as you stop playing the R v D game and start holding everyone...including your GUY accountable, then we'll get better representation.
Until that day you'll continue to give the left and the right reasons to pander and reasons to make excuses.

How many wives are you allowed to have in Florida? When are we going to prosecute this bum for bigamy?

Last time I check Conservatives value life.
And that is afforded, whether you like it or not, along with Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness, as enumerated in our founding documents.
These are not given to us by our system of government, but by the Creator. (See Dec of Independence)
Our government is charged to protect these unalienable rights with our founding documents. NOT INFRINGE UPON THEM.
The right to die is one thing- The right to be killed is quite another.
Had she made her wishes clear,in writing, we wouldn't have to watch this divorce case take place in the media.
The Basics- A state court has decided that her breathing is worth less than her husbands wish to go on with his.
A Judge has ruled that this innocent woman is guilty and sentenced her to death.
Guilty of what? I don't know.
Living a worthless life. Taking up a needed bed in a hospice. Ruling the front pages of newspapers for weeks.
Living in the wrong county. Living in the wrong state. Marrying a man who quit on her when the going got tough.
A lot of crimes Terri's committed in this but none against the law that I see.

Again, for those who are hard of hearing. As I understand it, under Florida law feeding tubes are considered life support.

Conservatives first and foremost will fight to preserve Life, Liberty and The pursuit of Happiness! Yes, I'd say you're completely wrong.

So five years gives him ultimate and eternal power over her? Sad.
He has been with the second wife longer than that.

What is more conservative than the right to self determination? Review the case and tell me if you believe that the hearsay evidence used to establish her wishes is clear and convincing as required by Florida law.

I'm awestruck! You're very perceptive to see the parents as the villains. Not many people would have come to that conclusion! The family hides their villainy so well! /sarc

Yep. The media have really been fanning the flames.

Michael Schaivo is the guardian, period. He gets to decide. That's the law. Do we want to take the decision away from the guardian? I don't want a court making my end of life decisions for me.
