A fine question.

A better question, IMHO, is what will all of us who recognize the miscarraige of justice, the spinlessness of certain parties, etc. do to make our collective voices heard, and punish the responsible parties at the polls next time?

Due process and states' rights, for two things.

This is supposed to be a nation of laws, not men.

If new laws need to be passed pass them for everyone, not just 'any parent of Terri' - that they were unwilling to do that shows that this is just theater.

Keep watching, we're going to see an increasing number of these cases. Yesterday I heard about a case coming up in PA. that is very similar to this one.

Since it tends to be the philistine end of the conservative movement that sides with Michael, I imagine some of them will see if he needs a financial advisor. Someone posted here that the book deal he will get off his wife's death is about $5 million. (Perhaps he will start a non-profit called "30 Pieces of Silver" and have himself installed as executive director at $450,000 a year.)

I don't think anyone really wins.

I'm torn on this issue. I don't want to see an innocent woman suffer and die needlessly. I also understand the spouses rights as well. Why is this all happening now after this has been in the courts for FIFTEEN YEARS???

Instead of legislating from the bench, it seems to me that if people had been on the ball earlier, the laws could have been changed years ago and we wouldn't be having this fight now. Laws need to be changed so that if a spouse like Michael Shiavo is a problem, parents can seek guardianship and take control of medical decisions. Laws are being changed now, FIFTEEN YEARS into this struggle while Terri lie dying.

I have a theory. If we'd had Fox News and Michael Savage 15 years ago like we do now... we wouldn't be here today.

Unfortunately, way to late for Terri.

I suppose those of you who are siding with Michael Schiavo are feeling smug today.

No, I'm feeling sad. Terri Schiavo's death is just the better of two possible horrible ends. There never was a posibility of a 'happy' ending.

Sides? Winning? What the heck are you talking about? No one wins in a situation like this. The best thing to come out of this is the fact that people are being much more careful in planning for their futures.

Well the Supremes just rejected the case. Somebody in the Bush family better do something or they are going to pay a political price on 2008.

We did not elect Bush for inaction, nor for action that was to late, nor for action that would not work.

We elected him to take timely action to stop problems before they got out of hand. Terror, Social Security, and yes that little thing called life.

Michael Schiavo sympathizers: What will you do when Terri dies?

Well, I can only think of one thing..., I'll be quite happy when FR is free from yet ANOTHER Terri Schiavo related vanity post.

"Terry Schiavo MUST Die"---(Liberals,Liberals,Liberals)

As we watch (and pray) the drama that has unfolded.....the brain-damaged young woman...the husband wanting that young woman dead so that he can add some status to his live in lover.....the parents wanting the young woman to live...hoping against all hope that some miracle will happen and their daughter will be made whole.

And at the bottom of the whole mess is a very simple problem , a very simple question, that each of us must face....and that the Nation as a whole must look at and , finally...please finally, deal with.

Do we value life????

Part of the body of Christianity is that each of us is important...that each of us is a child of God..and as such is to be valued . And if we follow the spirit of Christianity....it wouldn't even be a question of wether or not Terry Schiavo would live because it would be automatic that we would do everything to help her keep life...even with just the remotest chance of her returning to her normal self.

But we have lost that edge...because it is simpler...easier...to buy into the rabid nonsense that 'Quality of Life' is more important than life. Because , in this Nation and indeed the world, it is simpler..and far easier to NOT look at just what is life...and where it comes from.

Which is just how the Liberals want it.

Because if we look at how important life is (and how important Terry Schiavo's life is) and we start a National Dialog on the subject...we would have to actually have to look at abortion...and the taking of life...the murder of the unborn.

And that is something that Liberals (and most Americans for that matter) don't really want to discuss.

So....a young woman in Florida will have to die.

All for the sake of not shaking the 'status quo'.

All for the sake of not actually looking into our souls...and the soul of this Nation...and coming to grips with the idea that all life is precious and must not be squandered.

..and the one thing that Liberals fear...(hear them quaking in their loafers??) that a re-evaluating of where we are...and where we are headed (life, abortion etc) would lead to a re-discovering of exactly where that life comes from.

God.

It is a ridiculous question but completely in keeping with the vilification and hate-filled attacks on those who believe Terri left a long time ago and should be allowed to go to the Lord.

I have never seen an issue with as much vitriol spilled by alledged Christians upon those who understand that there never was a controversy here and the lies spread against MS are revolting. These types of decisions are made and carried out hundreds of times a day in this nation without hysteria or political grandstanding by opportunistic office holders.

Well, probably they'll have a kegger at the first Satan Temple on the corner of Death and Dying streets, just look for huge statue of Baal and bang a left, you can't miss it. B-P /sarcasm>
I need my dark humor, it keeps me sane. Prayers for Terri.
