Michael Schiavo sympathizers: What will you do when Terri dies?
Self

Posted on 03/24/2005 8:34:20 AM PST by ElkGroveDan

I suppose those of you who are siding with Michael Schiavo are feeling smug today.

I have to ask a question that I wanted to ask when little Elian Gonzalez was whisked away to the island gulag. Will you cheer? Will you celebrate?

The reason I ask is that we certainly will celebrate if we win. If Terri is somehow saved from this horror at this the 11th hour, those of us who are fighting for her life will cheer and clap, some of us will cry and many of us will fall to our knees in thanks to Our Lord!

How will you feel if your side wins? What exactly is it that you have won?

She isn't capable of speech, and she's incapacitated.

My sister was on one after falling very ill. She was on a ventilator for 3 days while in intensive care.

It was just a minor thing. I was arrested for driving on a suspended license that wasn't really suspended. (the Jackson county screw up). My attorney told me that I could appeal but he wouldn't touch the case because he didn't want to cross the Jackson judge either.

Are you saying there will be an autopsy? Usually an autopsy is only performed if a person dies from unknown causes, dies alone, or if there is a crime involved.

See #43 above. There could be an antopsy if her parents or any possible insurance company makes a decent petition to the Medical Examiner for one.

A judge does not have the legal authority to order her cremated without a release from the Medical Examiner, and no funeral home would do it, because they depend on the Medical Examiners good will to operate.

OK, unable to speak, but able to respond in some way - sign language, eyes, pulse. But if I went a year or so with no improvement I'd be cool with the tubes being removed and going to meet my maker. Because if you're a Christian that's where you must think Terri is headed, to a better place where all her trials are ended.

With regards to responses from Terri, all I've seen is that short clip of Terri 'smiling'. I tried letting my mouth hang open and then tilting a mirror - it looked like my slack jaw turned to a smile. It's an optical illusion in 2 seconds of clip. Other than that I have to go on doctors testimony and the rulings of judges.

Before we get too sentimental about Stalin's goons, remember that the Soviet Communists operated hundreds of slave labor camps where opponents of the regime or those who merely angered some official were slowly starved to death while required to perform hard labor, often in subzero weather. Additionally, millions of peasants were deliberately starved to death in Ukraine and Russia during the collectivization program of the 1930s.

However, I could easily see men like Judge Greer as a prototype of American commissars of secret police agencies and concentration camps.

Doesn't her "husband" work within the same system that includes the M.E.?

That, and the fact that the videos on her parents' site are all edited from about 6 hours' worth of footage. Until I found that out, I relatively convinced that there might've been a spark of her left. No such hope left.

Well, probably they'll have a kegger at the first Satan Temple on the corner of Death and Dying streets, just look for huge statue of Baal and bang a left, you can't miss it. B-P /sarcasm>
I need my dark humor, it keeps me sane. Prayers for Terri.

It is remarkable that people who rail against National Health expenditures are gleefully willing to cast those principles aside and open the door to bankrupting medical expenditures upon those who have no chance to recover and whose existence would be absolute torture to any with consciousness. This case should have been ended as soon as the doctors stated she had no chance which was a dozen years ago. In the interim millions have been spent with no result except extending the misery of the victim.

Her husband unwisely resisted that diagnosis for several years and refused to pull the plug until it became undeniably clear that there was no chance of even minimal recovery. Since then he has been incessantly attacked with the most outrageous lies.

Having had to allow my beloved wife to go to the Lord I understand that his actions are not those which are caricatured by the haters here but rather those of one who held out against all hope in trying to attain his wife's recovery. My wife would have never wanted to be trapped in such misery as Terri and I would never have subjected her to it.

See post #34 on choosing your spouse carefully.
And I am right. The fight as picked up since Friday... while Terri lie dying. She wasn't dying 10 years ago when the laws could have been changed.
Now it's too late. Shame on all those who could have made a difference TEN YEARS AGO.

I've wondered, myself. And the Pope is ill. The grieving mother. The betrayer... a regular allegory.

Keep watching, we're going to see an increasing number of these cases. Yesterday I heard about a case coming up in PA. that is very similar to this one.

PA? I hope you mean the Palestinian Authority and not Pennsylvania. Crud, I live in Pennsylvania. What are the details about it, maybe it will be close enough for me to go to a Freeping.

The ME and the Sheriff that the husband work for are both county officials, but they don't report to each other. In many States they are separately elected. I can't remember whether the ME is elected or appointed in FL.
