IF JEB BUSH DOEN'T ACT QUICKLY TO SAVE TERRY SCHIAVO, HIS POLLITICAL CARREER IS FINISHED!!
The wierd mind of gonzo ^ | march 24, 2005 | gonzo

If Terri dies when she could actually be kept alive, and Jeb Bush doesn't use the State Police or the Florida National Guard, or ANYTHING to prevent this travesty, he will be vilified by the democRATS if he ever seeks another office (like the Presidency).

It means nothing that some democRATS are actually trying to keep her alive. The only thing that the MSM will hammer on is that he stood by AS Governor and allowed that poor woman to DIE when he could have prevented it.

Why would that make Bush a dictator, and not Greer?

"Yes, I suspect the French, the ones that just last summer bumped off thousands of their senior citizens in nursing homes and home homes, while they were on their August vacations during a heat wave, are particularly horrified at what is happening in Florida. Quelle horreur!"

Of course we are. It's the first time a court of justice finds its duty is to kill a woman that is, most probably, a victim of conjugal violence, and decides to kill her by starving her to death.

We're not talking ordinary crime here. We're not talking neglect here. We're talking judicially-sanctioned murder, done in the name of mericfulness to boot - but without the mercy shot.

I don't know the specifics of the poll but it was widely published. I do have graduate training in inferential methods but am too tired to put it to use right now.

My assumption is that many more people would see the case the "right" way if they were better informed. The Mass Media barrage of "PERSISTENT VEGETATIVE STATE" is all many of them have heard.

With relatives in Asia, I can say that some things are better and some are worse there. At the community and kinship level things are generally better. People are much closer and younger people take care of the elders, through 2 or three generations. This is one of the highest priorities of their lives. But there are many terrible things as well, such as the infanticide of female babies in India. Good night.

I'm really not sure why it hasn't been done already. Probably Jeb preferred to not use his statutory power to override the courts. Maybe he wanted the courts to save Terri, but they didn't and now his team seems to be scrambling to put this alternative plan in place very quickly.

Unfortunately every court with jurisdiction has upheld Greer's decision.

Bush would be throwing out our entire system.

And police power is being used for an evil purpose even now, guarding Terri to be sure no one can help her! That evil use of police power is going on NOW -- yet some see that as "legal" because it was ordered by a Probate Judge; but if the GOVERNOR ordered it to save an innocent life, it would be illegal!! GO FIGURE.

On top of all that, the world is watching, and judging regarding something that shouldn't be happening in the first place.

Terri shouldn't be under the thumbs of the ones who seem to have all the power.

on my news tonight, NBC out of NY, they did a story on a young man who suffered brain damage at 18 from a head injury, has the same look Terri does. They were told by doctors that he would be a vegetable, no brain, would never feed himself, and that he was blind even and to basically forget about him...they did not listen...in the clip they showed he was sitting feeding himself grapes and then one of the parents says he spends a lot of time WATCHING tv...hardly blind, eh? My heart sank even more so for Terri and what should be.......

You agree with calling me pro-death? Is that what you are saying?

I think that Governor Bush is waiting for the last option, the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court. Once that final option is gone (which most think it will) then he will have to take custody himself and have the chips fall where they may. If he does, given the recent court injunction forbidding him from doing so, he takes a huge gamble of a motion to have him recalled as Governor.

You jerk. I am not pro-death. What a hateful thing to say.

Then you should keep better company on the separation of powers issue.

"too tired to put it to use right now." Yes indeed.

Have friends and family in Asia as well as Europe. I have always admired the respect that is shown to elders in their culture as well in places such as Japan.

Time to put my mind and body to rest. God bless you all, and especially Terri and her loved ones. Good night.

Looks to me like he/she means that if you support killing people you are pro death. I don't think there's any hidden meaning in there.

Not sure about that. The poll today on the front pages of newspapers said 61% of Americans essentially agreed with Greer's position.

If you ask these people in detail about the case, 99% of them will repeat huge, fatual errors, ie. lies, that they have heard from the MSM. So the polll is WORTHLESS!@

In today's news conference (March 24th) Jeb Bush said that he has state statutory law that permits him to take custody. I think he is letting every option take their course before taking the final option, which would be a huge risk to his office as governor.
