This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
That will be so great - take pictures! :)
I have seen them before, as a kid. This will be neat. ecurbh hasn't seen 'em.
I'll take such pics as a I can! We got good seats.
50 more minutes :) Boy do I hope you are right.
He's a friend of mine, he told me on email. I had noticed that he wasn't posting here anymore but I didn't mention it to him, since he never would tell me if he was Keith or not. Finally, yesterday, I clicked on Keith's name and it said he was banned or suspended. I emailed him and got him to come clean, he's Keith and he got banned 2 months ago. He said he got banned after he posted a silly topic on colorful names.
"Funny you shoud ask. Her temp is back up to 103."
Doggonnit, I'm sorry. Guess we know now which meds helped.
Good morning.
That's cool HAIR to get to see the lippizzan's.
Becky
Guess no foal yet..................
Good morning everyone, It's deaconjims Saturday so we have a lot of running around to do, his opposite at work has just had a heart attack and is having major heart surgery right now, so we need to get lots done today because he will probably be working long long hours. For many months.
(Deaconjims work mate has just turned 49 and this is his second). : (
We have lots of kids here tonight, if the weather holds we might get some good pics of the horses and us riding later.
Hope your horse is doing better Cindydawg........
Has your horse (Belle?) bagged up yet Becky?
WOW! I just know you are going to have a blast! : D
No bag as of last night. I haven't been out there yet this morning.
Tomorrow Mack and I are going up to my Dad's to get that computer he is giving us. If Mack can get it to work I will be able to start posting pictures again:). From what my dad has told us about it, Mack doesn't think there is that much wrong with it. He thinks it may just be full of viruses/spyware, and maybe a new keyboard. Dad says it won't type caps.
Becky
sounds good, viruses/spyware you can get rid of and then you have a good computer, and keyboards are cheap, wish u lived nearer, we have at least one you could have! : )
My condolences. I've never seen growth like Miami to Jupiter. I'm doing some consultant work for FPL out of their Juno Beach office and we travel down to the Turkey Point plant (near Homestead) about once a month and the rapid development is amazing.
One month, an open field, the next month foundations, month after that houses and streets, and then a month later cars, kids, landscaping, stores and schools. I've never seen nothing like it. Where the hell are all these people coming from?
Well, in this case I get no satisfaction about being right. I just hope no harm done. I'm just frustrated. I was in the trenches and was with her, taking care of her everyday. He drops in and just sees the results and didn't seem to really listen to me.
Oh, lucky you. Yes pics. I saw them in LV once:') Beautiful animals. They were at the island a couple of months ago but I had a conflicting schedule and couldn't go.
Isn't it horrible!!??
They are coming from everywhere.
Central and South America, Cuba, Europe and the lovely Northern liberal "save the planet, but pave MY neighborhood" crowd who have decided to spread their urban sprawl down here.
I told my mom last night that the happiest day of my life will be the day I see Miami for the last time out of my rearview mirror.
Why don't you sell out down there and look some property between Okeechobee and Ocala? It's some nice country from what I've seen.
Have you seen any of the bumper stickers around Miami that say, "Will the last American out bring the Flag", or something to that effect. I've seen one.
Good morning everyone.... I slept in.... I'm all behind.
Mornin' Hair! :-D
Cowboy - I'm kinda stuck right now. Single mom - 2 kids, supporting my mom too since my dad walked out on her 3 years back. She watches the girls so I can work and pay the bills.
The house is under my mom's name and she doesn't want to move and I can't really save enough to go on my own (I pay everything on my one meager income), so I've decided to wait until both of my girls are in school and old enough to handle a move into the country.
Two more years at least since my youngest is almost 3.
I've waited this long though, so I'll just keep looking forward and praying that prices stay reasonable in rural FL and that the sprawl doesn't reach there too.
I guess the upside is that by the time you're ready to sell and move the property will be worth a small fortune. There's a tiny house in my neighborhood in N. Palm, probably built in the 50's or 60's, that's on the market for 305K. That place might go for 80K back where I'm from.
It already is!
This house was purchased for $73k and it now worth $290k+.
Ridiculous. It's no more than 1400 sq ft.
