This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Hi Emma
It's next week. The 14th:')
LOL! She got all the political education she needed right here, as deaconjim used to be the chairman of our local republican party until this year, when he stood down because of other commitments.
Will U be able to take some pics?
Funny you shoud ask. Her temp is back up to 103.
Did u do what your "drop in " vet said and take her off the medicine that you thought was helping? If so, put her straight back on it and hopefully that was what was helping her.
I hate it that her temp has gone back up.... : (
I'll try:')
Misty is absolutly fine now, it was so scary seeing her with a discharge of water like stuff coming out of her mouth and nostrils which hit the floor and made pools....
It must have been what Frog said, an allergy to something. She had seen a horse have the same attack after eating clover so maybe misty found something that triggered the reaction she had. : )
It is so scary when animals are sick.......
Something helped bring her temp down last time, so it must have been something that you or the other vet did. I hope you can get her temp down very soon. I will be praying for you both.
Are all the horses at this stable sick?
Yeah and she's getting a 10 day coverage this x. I called him tonight just to let him know, of course:') His partner answered and told me to put her back on it. The owner told me she wished that she had been home yesterday caz she would have told me the baytril wasn't working and all the sick horses on smz. I was joking the other night but she told me I'm learning but around here you learn to treat your own horses and just bring the vets out for emergencies.
Yeah it's scary. We have 3 types of horses at my place. The one's that have been sick, the ones that are now sick and the one's that are gonna be sick:'(
It's 11.15pm here so I am going to hit the exercise machines for a while till deaconjim gets in.... see you all tommorow, goodnight everyone. : )
Goodnight
Last post: I really hope that somehow, someway you find your place to keep your horses with you really soon. : )
Goodnight.
WHAAAAT?????
Who said he was banned??? How'd you find that out?
Did he get banned for something he wrote, here, on The Saddle Club???
I don't think it was JR that would do that. Too many mods/admins. (like too many chiefs and not enough injuns. or HOWEVER that saying goes)
Yeah. but horses , any animal can get sick. Homeschooling kind of reduces the odds though. The owner looking for me too. She knows a lot of people. She found one place behind her awhile back but it was already sold. There is also an outbreak of horse stealing going on right now. She cautioned me not to just put them out to a pasture though but to live there or have someone else on the property.
I don't think that horse CAN BE 'milked to death'. (snicker)
Seriously. Congrats !!!
PLEASE, take lotsa pix!
That's one of the ones we use and it is very good. So - do we get pictures of a very shiny horse?
