I've just read that the Vatican has released a statement saying that Teri should live. They are right, but they are empowered to do much more and the actions have been missing.
From what I understand Michael (HINO) won't divorce Teri and give custody to her parents as he would then be unable to have a church wedding with with mistress Jodi.
Should not the Bishop declare that he has removed himself from the church by his actions and thus bar him from the sacrament of marriage within the church?
This is not posted to cause any Catholic bashing, and if it does I will request the mods pull it! Maybe there is something the RCC can do, and maybe we should be talking to his bishop about it.
The Kennedys have never had a pronblem with adultery and marriage in the church.
You're comparing this to the Kennedys? The Kennedy situation may be questionable, but last I checked, none of the wives were starved to death because they were inconvenient.
Promise?
At least not for a remarriage with this woman, considering the relevant canon law posted above. Maybe he could get remarried to someone else.
The two essential components for a valid marriage are that at the time of marriage the spouses must intend a lifelong commitment and openness to children. It certainly seems possible that he didn't intend a lifelong commitment at the time of the marriage.
He wouldn't be excommunicated. He would be considered an adulterer. The Church recognizes all marriages (except for civil ceremonies) as unbreakable - not just marriages in the Church.
In fact, the situation might arise where they actually have to to ensure her safety.
Things are moving very fast now.
If they did this would not be the first time that the Feds have been called in like this.
Thanks for chiming in, Jesse. We were lost without your expertise on the Catholic Church.
And if they find a church to do it I think Freepers should attend. When the priest asks if anyone knows why these two should not be joined in marriage, the Freepers should stand up and say "YES, TERRI!"
Does the RCC still post banns of marriage? If they do, people could object before the wedding when the banns are posted.
My point was a) it's perfectly within Church rules and b) while it is probably more common now (apparently now all you need is the bishop's sign-off, not a formal waiver?), I don't think it's a new thing.
I said that the Kennedy's had little problem getting married in the Church after committing adultery and divorcing. I never said any of them starved their wives.
Hey bigot go back to burning down churches and leave us alone!
The Pope has been ALL OVER the euthanasia issue, and you would see that if you weren't blinded by hate.
It is amazing to me that this is happening during Easter week. Easter week. Saints preserve us, and God help us that there are those who want to see her dead.
You're welcome.
Prescisly
While you have raise a few points they overall tone of your post was insulting to Catholics and is the very type I requested not to see on this thread. I have requested the mods pull your post.
they overall should be the overall
I've got to proof a bit better
