I've just read that the Vatican has released a statement saying that Teri should live. They are right, but they are empowered to do much more and the actions have been missing.
From what I understand Michael (HINO) won't divorce Teri and give custody to her parents as he would then be unable to have a church wedding with with mistress Jodi.
Should not the Bishop declare that he has removed himself from the church by his actions and thus bar him from the sacrament of marriage within the church?
This is not posted to cause any Catholic bashing, and if it does I will request the mods pull it! Maybe there is something the RCC can do, and maybe we should be talking to his bishop about it.
Last I heard - Michael Schiavo is not Catholic. Is that true?
The Church can't interfere in the laws of the US.
Joseph - Spousal murder, or a sin of omission that leads to the purpose of a spouse's death, renders "till death do us part" null and void. His marriage will not be considered dissolved in the eyes of the Church.
That's my understanding. I was under the impression he's protestant and isn't allowing the devorce because Terri is Catholic

You are correct, Mr. Schiavo should be ex-communicated from the Catholic Church for openly and brazenly breaking Commandments number 5, 6 and 8.
What are they going to do, send the Swiss Guards to the hospital?
That has nothing to do with the sacrament of matrimony. The Church can deny him a Church wedding just like they can deny a mobster a Church funeral.
The pope could call a crusade
Oh man! That only makes sense in light of everything else he's done.
His concubine is "Catholic".
But - it wouldn't make sense for him to not divorce his wife because she is Catholic. There is nothing in the Church that says a person is not allowed to have a civil divorce. But, you can't remarry without the marriage being annulled. So really a civil divorce would not have any spiritual impact on her.
Don't know if Michael is Catholic or not, but I believe his mistress is. Teri is as well.
I truly believe that some type of afirmative action needs to take place so another weak bishop can't allow a marriage that would go against church policy.
The bishop has no power to declare an annulment or a divorce unilaterally in this manner. And even if he did, it would have no civil effect.
IIRC, the Schindlers are Catholic, Schiavo is not. Thus, RCC can have rather limited impact in that regard.
I don't think that's going to be an issue.
another should just be 'a'
There are so many bishops that deny or go against the teachings of the RCC that it seemed a natural error. My apologies to anyone that I inadvertantly offended, such was not my intent.
