Is the RCC a serious part in what is happening to Teri? Could action on part of a bishop change the dynamic? Please post only reasonable replies as this is intended for serious discussion.

Last I heard - Michael Schiavo is not Catholic. Is that true?

The Church can't interfere in the laws of the US.

Joseph - Spousal murder, or a sin of omission that leads to the purpose of a spouse's death, renders "till death do us part" null and void. His marriage will not be considered dissolved in the eyes of the Church.

Should not the Bishop declare that he has removed himself from the church by his actions and thus bar him from the sacrament of marriage within the church?

You are correct, Mr. Schiavo should be ex-communicated from the Catholic Church for openly and brazenly breaking Commandments number 5, 6 and 8.

The bishop has no power to declare an annulment or a divorce unilaterally in this manner. And even if he did, it would have no civil effect.

IIRC, the Schindlers are Catholic, Schiavo is not. Thus, RCC can have rather limited impact in that regard.

Call Gov Jeb Bush and demand that he take Terri into protective custody RIGHT NOW in order to investigate outstanding charges of abuse, neglect and exploitation by his very own Dept. of Children and Families.

Jeb Bush's # 1-850-488-4441 - Terri can't wait 'til 3 p.m. today.

I don't think Michael Schiavo cares about re-marrying in the Catholic Church. He just wants Terri dead so he gets the money and so he can legally marry his new woman. Haven't been following as closely as some others but that's my understanding.

Even though I agree with Vatican's stance on THIS issue, I think they ought to stay out of our business most of the time.

I hope not. This country needs no interference from the Vatican, who still have their own child-molestation issues to deal with.

We don't need the Vatican telling us how to do things. If anyone disagrees, remember that they also were against removing Saddam from power.

From what I understand Michael (HINO) won't divorce Teri and give custody to her parents as he would then be unable to have a church wedding with with mistress Jodi.

What do you want the Church to do?

With a divorce he would not be able to get remarried in the Church unless he receives a declaration of nullity for his first marriage.

It is amazing to me that this is happening during Easter week. Easter week. Saints preserve us, and God help us that there are those who want to see her dead.
