Hate wasting good bandwidth on a vanity. I figured if anybody knew the answers to my qustion it would be a freeper.
I have received from a deceased relative a deleon no 4 knife. The handle is stag and the blade is appx 3 inches long. I believe it is a skinning knife but does not have a gut hook. It appears to be one of deleons earlier knives. It is well worn with the blade having some marks and the handle has lost its whiteish yellow colour. I dont have a digital cam right now so I cant post a pic. I was wondering if any freepers who have the depth of knowledge in this area can give me any idea to its value?
Might the "Q" division have an answer?
I hate registering for another site. But I will if need be. I am just being lazy right now.
You may also want to check at Bladeforums.com
I agree, www.knifeforums.com is THE PLACE to go to ascertain information on this knife. It is the forum I haunt when I'm not here. There are lots of freepers on there too.
Bernard Levine, who moderates a forum there, should be able to give you a good answer, and maybe even give you some idea what the knife is worth.
Your area of interest ping.
You could always do a search on BladeForums, which I tend to like a little better than the other knife enthusiast forums to see what you can uncover there. They have a distinctly conservative mindset over there.
If I stumble across anything I'll drop another comment here. Good luck with your research about the knife...

Look like this?

Deleon is/was a custom knife maker. The US has had a resurgence in hand crafted knives since the 1970s and today we have thousands of individuals producing knives to their and their customer's specifications.
Your knife probably looks somewhat like this one:

Looks like others have mentioned some good references already.
Sorry I didn't get here sooner, I was just finishing up a couple of more knife shipments for the troops.
It actually does. But the name stamp is in a different location its horizontal with the hilt and the number is 4 and the one on that one is 12. Other than that they look the same.
