Boudreaux and his son Guy had been under investigation by state police since January. The streaming video shows aerial surveillance footage of the Boudreaux property in Broussard.
It was shot by Customs agents with the Department of Homeland Security.
The Boudreaux's had come under the gaze of Customs because of their international sales of pit-bull terriers.
The Boudreauxs were arrested today at their south Lafayette parish home. 2 1/2 months of investigation ended today at this home behind me when investigators made their move.
Investigators say 70 year-old Floyd Boudreaux is one of the most notorious dog breeders in Louisiana who raises his pit bull dogs to fight, then sells them off.
This morning, state police working with local and national Humane Societies and federal agencies served a warrant and arrested Floyd and his son Guy Boudreaux.
John Goodwin, Humane Society of the United States:
"Floyd Boudreaux is the fighting-dog Don. He's been breeding dogs for fighting purposes for 50 years. Some of his dogs are the foundation of some of the most prominent fighting lines in existence today."
At Boudreaux's home police found 68 pit bulls and 40 chickens and roosters. Many of the dogs had scars and bruises.
Laura Maloney, Society for the Prev. of Cruelty to Animals:
"This is a historical case. If we get him, it will send ripples through the dog-fighting community and nationwide."
Some people living in this Broussard neighborhood are outraged about the alleged dog abuse.
Jess Spiehler, Broussard Resident:
"I guess what bothers me the most is that they're on a 3 foot chains. Big, heavy chains. They spend their life under a chicken coop on a chain. That is not a life......that's horrible."
Boudreaux and his son were charged with 64 counts each of dog-fighting and animal cruelty. They're also facing charges for allegedly using steroids on the animals.
i meant no* offense***
just think about it while they were busting this guy some poor little girl was being kidnapped , raped, and killed, but they rather spend our tax money on busting this guy who did nothing wrong andthey can't prove that he did. wheres the evidence. to bust someone you must evidence of a in action at the time of the bust!
and to think there is a crack dealer some where on a corner
selling our children different drugs, but you'd rather go after dogmen and women who love their dogs so much even more then life itselfs.
Wow, some of you people are very thick
I have owned APBTs for over 10 years now, including a dog who was of broudeaux breeding. That dog was also a Champion show dog and consitently placed in weight pulling. That dog was raised with children, too. and no, I dont fight dogs
Oh, and yes, that dog came right off of Floyd's yard.
One of the best dogs Ive ever owned.
It may interest some of you that Animal aggression (which the APBT has) and human aggression are 2 different things.
Regardless of what this man did, does, etc, those dogs ween t aggressive monster nor should have been just killed on the spot. I've seen the HS try to rescue far worse off bad temperment dogs (just watch some of those animal planet shows) dropping loads of money into them to only turn around and put them to sleep
who's the killers???
Oh great... we're getting invaded by Pit Bull enthusiasts from dog fighting forums.
Welcome these three, who all joined today to wake up this old thread.
The first post on the second page is telling: " believe they are talking about this board.........any more doubters that common code doesnt work?"
how can youeven make such a judgement, we at game-dog do not condome dog-fighting, if you took time to look through the site instead of just looking at the name you'd know that.....game-dog doesn't always pretain to dogfighting. so don't call name when you have no idea what's goin on. i doubt you've read what i posted. none of you have the whole story, just bits you get from the media which will twist things and make it look horrified. you want to call names come to www.game-dog.com and do it there we'll be glad to tell you ourselves we do not condome dogfighting!!! so i don't know where you get off calling us a dogfighting forum!! so end the name calling we're all here tryin to save the breed. stop being an closed mind idiot and look at the big pircture. the one that show that these people like aspca are tryin to get rid of all apbts, then soon amstaff, then bull terriers, all bully breeds. not just fighting type, but all show, weight pull, All. so take your head out your ass and stop tryin to be a internet badass and think.....
I'm against BSL and I think I have raised some good points - none of which have been addressed by these people. Why do the dogs need to stay dog-aggressive if their primary purposes are conformation showing, weight-pulling and family pets? And why is this an unreasonable question to ask?
Good catch on the "common code" remark, HairOfTheDog.
The easy answer to your question is that they ~don't~ have to be aggressive to do legitimate sports. They are still aggressive because people are very much still breeding them for the purpose of fighting. And aggression is not so precisely compartmentalised as they'll tell you it is. There's a LOT of loose cannons born in the dangerous realm of breeding for 'gameness'.
I'm not for banning any breeds either... I think it's impractical in the real world where anybody can breed a dog that may or may not be part or full pit bull. We can't even win the drug war, and we can at least definitively identify the drugs involved. My only goal is to educate people who do want pets that pit bulls are a lousy choice compared to all the great companion breeds out there. If good people stopped trying to tell us they are just as cuddly as a teddy bear, stopped trying to promote the lie that they are safe, then at least we wouldn't have innocent people maimed when their nature comes out... When we saw a pit bull, we'd know what it is, mourn what it is... investigate cruelty against it, but not try to tell a mom she should let it play with her kids.
and that proves.........nothing
what's your point???kill all apbts cause their history?
you don't hearing noone going kill whites cause of slavery or kill german cause the the jews do you??? my point being don't blaem apbts for their history we celebrate it cause it's where our dogs come from. maybe you don't celebrate your ancestory history but we do for our dogs.
i agree with you about irrisponsible owners most people have drugs involved and it's not good, this dog need resonible owner and clean ones at that and we are responsible owner yeah we have a few dumb ones, but we're there to help them....we all have the same goal. to rid this breed of idiots
wouldn't you say so???
NC_pitbulls, I don't support banning the breed. I just would like to know why people continue to perpetuate dog-aggression in pits if the vast majority of owners don't use them for fighting?
My point is that breeding dogs to fight is barbaric and not to be celebrated.
I don't celebrate being racist as a vital part of being white, nor do I find it to be a trait worthy of promoting and protecting. As a white I denounce racism. See the difference?
I'm going out with my hubby for some dinner.... I'll check back later on though to see if you have more exchange with these guys ;~D
again like i said our site isn't perfect, but most of the people up there, don'tagreewith it,but what wrongwith looking back your dog history and seeing the kinda dogs he come from. What's wrong with looking back and sayingehy that was a great dog,or man produced some fine dogs???
Do you fight your dogs?
Do you sell your puppies to dog fighters?
no i don't fight my dogs and i don't sell never will i breed for me and i better my yard for me noone else....
i've been around these dogs since i was 3yrs old my grandfather had some, i live with him most of my life. so became fond of them...and every since then i got into these dogs from there..but i do care where my dogs come from...none of my dogs are humans agreesive , most of my dogs are dog aggresive, but i keep them set apart with the right a very very goo equiptment, something you all say is inhumane, from getting to each other.i care about my dogs and i don't put thousands of dollars in them to see them tear each other up. i'm not in this for money, or to peddle in pups. i hardly breed, but i do it's to pass on a good trait i see to better my yard.
noone shouldn't be afraid to lookat their dogs history, it maybe bad or good but, it's still partofthe dogs no matter how you like it or hate it.
