The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I can't help thinking you're right...

I know it's hard to have any pity for him at this point, but considering his whacked out life, I guess it's almost understandable and sad how things have panned out.

I just figured out that, at a rate of 3 movies per month, it will take me 12.7 years to view all the movies in my Netflix queue...

LOL! yeah, we're up to about 128 movies in our Queue!

We just finished watching a cool series that was short-lived on SciFi network. It's called "Firefly", and it truly was a space western. We enjoyed the characters, and the situations. Some were poignant, but some were just dang FUNNY! We let Clare watch it with us, but you might want to preview before you let Jr. watch, if he's even interested. Joseph wasn't at all into it, so we never had to be concerned about the appropriateness of some of the material.

The director of the series is making it into a feature film called Serenity.

I started out several years ago, doing the work by hand, but then we found Broderbund's 3D Home Architect program. I used that for a while, but then found Chief Architect. The program was almost $1000, but we found we could get a 'Student Copy' for Clare for 1/4th the price. So I'm learning it, and will teach it to her, after I have the plans done for our house. ;o)

There are rapid and wacky new developments in the Michael Jackson Carnival.

Oh joy, oh bliss.

I would like to design a filter that lets me avoid hearing, reading, seeing it discussed on tv, or otherwise learning the details of celebrity court trials.

I'd hack into the filter... No one gets to opt out of these circuses. ;~D people complaining about the existence of the circus are part of the scene.

There's a reason I don't have television... at least online I can choose which parts of the circuses to follow.

I have to keep my cultural ignorance high to provide you guys with hours of fun, posting pictures of dead people and asking if I know who they are.

Yeah, just rub it in that you are going to buy a house while some of us are stuck renting... just kidding, I' not ready for that headache.

I am ready to save money on the rent, though!

Don't forget, you CAN make an offer lower than the sale price. Go into the negotiations with a number over which you don't intend to go, and start with an offer lower than that. If they're willing to negotiate, they'll come down on their offer, then you can go up slightly, and so on, until they won't come down any lower, and you've reached your limit, or those two number intersect in your favor!
Make those realtors earn their 6% commission!
